DIY 6.2 Spark Plug Change

I've changed quite a few plugs over the last 30 years years and none have ever been seized. I live in the rust belt too. Not sure where people's fear of plug seizing comes from in the first place.

I'll tell you, from Ford service! My 2010 6.2 is there right now for a check engine light warranty fix. They just called me and said that because it's @ 90k the plugs should be changed while it's there. I asked for a quote on it; roughly $8 a plug plus about $300 labor. That was assuming none were stuck and if so, broke off. He then went on to tell me the horrors of stuck plugs breaking off resulting in the need to pull the heads to the tune of 2-3 grand bill. I said, no thanks I'll take care of it to which I got another doom and gloom lecture about how that they should have been changed at 60-70k, now at 90k they're going to be trouble blab blab blab.
My last F150 had the 5.4 with aluminum heads and I changed them no problems.

Anybody here have, or know of anybody that had stuck plugs in their raptor that broke off while changing them??

Nope, all 16 came out with no issues, on my '13 with 160+k miles. I was thinking the owner's manual said the interval was 150k...and not hard to do just time consuming, took a few hours...that labor rate seems steep to me and that guy sounds more like a salesman...

The 6.2L plugs are just like every other plug. You put a socket on a piece of metal that is threaded into the head. What can possibly get stuck or break? We aren't talking about the problematic 2 piece plugs like Ford put in the 5.4 3V engines here. Ford is just trying to scare you into paying them to do easy work.

So is their a consensus on replacement plugs NGK or OEM ? if NGK which ones ?

I put NGK in everything I own, but Ford's plugs work just fine too. As long as you use the iridium plugs, you are good to go.

Given there are 16 of them though, in this case I might go with the Ford plugs since they are quite a bit cheaper.

Looks like they are figuring 2.5hrs of labor at $125.88 which is what they charge. 2.5hrs does seem a lot less than 4-6 hours what others are saying they are taking. Not sure if I want to spend half a day doing this. I just passed 80k miles

There’s only 3 challenging plugs to get to, and with a couple u joints and extensions it’s no problem.

Passenger side behind the shock mount( lower plug) , and drivers side & passenger back lower plug. I think it took me about 1.5-2 hours taking my time and bs’ing with the neighbor when I did my old truck.

You know dealerships, full retail prices quoted. I did ask if I could bring in my parts but I know that typically is frowned upon and makes you look like a cheap ass. They have taken care of so much warranty work that could be considered questionable that I don’t want to be “that guy”.
