Did I just get worked over on my extended warranty?

Buying an extended warranty *at all* is getting worked over. Maybe even bent over. Wait until you're out of warranty or close to out of manufactures warranty and then shop around. Many places will offer you great discounts on long term warranties for close to cost and the difference in price between buying it as a new vehicle and one used is largely negligible.
.
Pretty good advice...

Some other things to know (used to be true a couple of years ago when I last checked):

Flood's prices are about $100 over their cost. Anderson And Koch (http://andersonandkoch-ford-warranty.com) and Lombard (http://www.lombardfordwarrantys.com/index.cfm) are 2 other Ford dealers that have similar ESP pricing.

Also, it used to be that if you wait to buy the ESP coverage after the first 12 months of ownership, it increases by $100.

If you buy new every 2-3 years (like I do), it might be prudent to wait until you're into the 3rd year (towards the end of the 3/36). And then, if you're planning on keeping it a while longer (and if you still want the ESP coverage) buy it then....even if it is $100 more.

Thanks y'all for all the help! I truly feel embarrassed about the whole situation but glad i learned some stuff on the warranty side of things. This is my first Ford truck and the finance boy made it seem that half the high tech stuff on the raptor wasnt covered under the standard warranty. Does anyone know if that is true? I would assume that bumper to bumper (3 year/36k miles) basically means anything minus the usual stuff not covered (accidental damage, hail, cosmetics, etc.).

Also thanks to @RamseyF for pointing out the maintenance plan option, it sounds like a good idea so you can lock in the price now and avoid the inflation on rising servicing costs. I'll probably get that this week and choose the 5,000 mile interval.

Members are giving great advice. Purchase the warranty towards the end of the factory bumper-to-bumper warranty if you must have an extended warranty.

IF your considering the extended warranty, particularly with maintenance, I would caution waiting too long .... we have a few more years of my pal "Lets go Brandon" so inflation could continue and Ford will have no choice but to increase the price (its already gone up at least once since I purchased one) .... depends on your financial status I guess. Also if you sell the truck you can either transfer it as part of the sale or get a refund on the unused time. For me locking in the maintenance and a little peace of mind on a new model was a no brainer....

While I think extended warranty can be useful to some, It doesn't make any sense for OP based on what he said was important to him in the first paragraph. Standard warranty covers you on everything for the 3 years, plenty of time for any COVID truck related issues to be discovered. 6 years on the power train. If your main concern is drivability, I'm not sure that you really getting anything you value with an extended warranty.

get your refund. you can buy from flood ford. you can buy it anytime. just get it before your bumper to bumper runs out. the dealer will want his cut.
This....and you can even buy online up to 41k miles, but you will get a $100 discount for buying before your factory expires. Zeigler Ford also has competitive prices to Flood and they do sales sometimes. If I were you, I'd sign up for their newsletters and wait for a deal to come through.

All depends on how long the OP plans to keep it. I'm usually in a truck about 5-6 years and I average 20k miles a year.
