Last month I placed an order for a 2014 special edition with my local Ford dealer. I told them I wanted to pay $1000 over invoice since I knew exactly what the invoice price was thanks to this forum.

I have it in writing and put down a $1000 deposit. I know the invoice prices recently went up $300. My question though is, shouldn't my Ford dealership honor the original agreed upon price? My salesman emailed me telling me it would be $307 more which is really maddening after having something in writing that says something else.

He says he can do nothing about it. I know for a car you all might think its only $300. but its the principle of the matter that upsets me the most. And in the email he said that this happens every 6 months or so however he never told me ahead of time that this could happen. Thanks for any help.

Dealer can do nothing about price increase from Ford. You have it in writing but is it worth a law suit for 300 bucks? You can't even get a decent mod for that.

Yeah, you have it in writing so read it again. I bet it states that all prices are subject to change without notice. I have a 2014 ordered and that is what the purchase order states on the back side.

First, is it really worth getting upset over $307 when you're already getting it below msrp? Two, I've read before where the dealer can not do anything about an increase from ford. This has been common with a lot of members who ordered, price changed after 3 or 4 months. Personally, it's not worth getting upset about.

Did you read what you signed? Does it say any cost increase from Ford will be passed onto you? Or is there any language to that effect? Just like is there any language that gives you the right to back put of the contract and have your deposit refunded?

Good luck...the deLer is just passing on the cost....so technically you are still getting the truck $1k over invoice....

I agree, you are acting as if the dealership had a choice. They were given a new price by ford. My salesman gave me my price (450 over invoice) and said it was subject to change by ford. It's standard

I disagree guys.... When I was in corporate sales, I would generate a quote and the customer would place an order against it. Some times it took us 6 months to build the product and if during that time the price went up, we ate it.

Seems the dealer gave him a price, he put his money down and now that the manufacturer has raised his price the dealer has to eat it or go back to FORD and say don't do me this way....

here, on frf
what was signed $1000 over invoice or a set price? if they tried to raise the price to collect more, then that would be an issue, but a $300 invoice increase means that your price would go up naturally

I read every letter on what I signed and on mine it was clear that the price could change if Ford raised it. See number 3. Looks like I could cancel but forfeit my $1000 non-refundable deposit.
