Smart man! This is the first and last time I will ever trust the dealer to do a simple task without ******* it up

Born in the wrong damn era I guess, it’s really sad what has become of pride and a job done well and right. One day we will care about our neighbors again....until then I do everything myself!

In my industry, I deal with coatings and corrosion on a regular basis. If soluble salts are present on the parent metal when coatings are applied, they will continue to corrode. Most undercoatings are water permeable, and the underlying salt will be fed by that moisture, ultimately eating up the steel. Once it has begun, corrosion is hard to stop. If you have more questions, I'll be glad to help find more information. I have attached 2 articles, but it sounds like you have a good grasp on the problem. Good Luck.

Thank you for the literature! It’s disturbing that the GM didn’t understand or care about the severity of salt being trapped under the coating. I hope that once the owner returns from Florida and catches news of this disaster they make it right. I have my fingers crossed that he isn’t as ignorant and the GM!

Good reading Devildog. Glad to see the community contributing to Wfo’s issue. I hope it gets resolved without a lengthy battle.

Sorry to hear all this crap you're going through, that sucks ass!!! Undercoating over the top of salt & moisture and trapping it, is what killed off all the Ziebart type places that had sprung up for about 5-10 years when I was younger. Most all had to close up rather than deal with all the damage they caused. It just made the corrosion issues worse!

I would want a new truck, especially after they started being ****** to you. When you go to court, make sure you make a blown up picture of the awesome job they did on your rear diff cover! It really showcases the rat bastards excellent work quality standards. I guess all the big chisels and pick axes were already in use when they did that or it would be worse! That ****** me off and it's not even my truck!!!!

Good luck with this, I hope it goes away as painlessly as possible.
