GEN 1 De-chrome and firearm mount

De-chromed the interior. Hydrodipped the door handles and shifter trim. Painted the console trim with some smoke colored plasti-dip. Also mounted extra mags inside the console vault and found an easy and removable way to mount my edc under the steering wheel. A typical paddle holster slips onto the trim and holds pretty secure. No modifying the trim at all

Caution concerning your under-the-steering column gun mount:
- It's difficult to draw without muzzling yourself
- It's a very slow draw
- You're unarmed the minute you leave the vehicle to pump gas, use the bathroom, etc.
- When you leave the vehicle the gun is visible from the outside and unsecured.

I would never leave it there unattended and if I get out it either goes in the safe or on me. And I'm not too concerned about having to draw it from the holster and it is a faster draw than it being on my waist. it's more of a storage spot while driving. It's not cluttering up the console or inaccessible in the vault

How did you mount the extra mags?

I used the standard mag pouch that you get from Springfield. Drilled 4 holes common to the belt loops all the way through the part. Then used that as a template to drill through the lid. Then 4 rivets to hold it on

Thanks. I wondered if you had to drill the top or if you found a way to add a bracket to the hinge nuts. I couldn't tell from the first picture.

I like it, though I prefer to just carry so I don't have to mess around with reaching for it in an awkward position. I'm planning on putting an ar mount under my rear seat for fun.

What lock box is that in the center console?

It's a console vault. Bought it on Amazon

I generally carry it on my waist too but for longer drives it's nice to have it out of the way

Shifter parts were easy. There's some YouTube videos on how to do it.

Door handles were a little bit of a pain. Take them completely off the door and work them on the bench. Getting the spring out is easy just make sure you keep your hand or a rag over it so it doesn't come flying out. Getting the chrome lever out is a bit of a pain. You really have to bend and pry to get it out but it will come out
