Daystar Products New Airbag Cradle - YouTube

Daystar™ - Driven by Design

This is shown on a Raptor.. Info from Daystar's page -

"We want our trucks to do everything. Hit the trails, tow the boat to the river, take us to work and transport the family on long road trips. Adding an air bag system to your full-size truck or SUV has always meant scratching at least one of those off your list. With most air bag systems, the lower air bag mount is placed above the leaf spring significantly reducing wheel travel by design. Your air bag system should compliment your truck, not inhibit its ability. Daystar’s new Air Bag Cradle mounts to your trucks lower suspension providing more room for the air bag to safely cycle with no loss of overall wheel travel."

Let's discuss...

Just so we are clear... We will not be selling this product to you Raptor guys... I read the description that Daystar has and then watched the video... Figured it would be a good topic for discussion... There are quite a few companies that have and still do bring parts into the market for the Raptor that shouldn't...

Ya, I do not use mt truck as a off road truck except for getting to my place in northern Mi. I do pull a big trailer and would like something other that my distribution hitch helping.

But it is not a bad idea.
Attach the bottom perch to the axel lining up to the inside of the frame
Attach the top perch to the cross member of the bump stop
Design a quick attachment for the air bag.
You need to level for a heavy load … slip in the bags and pump them up!

I'm new to the heavy hauling thing, so explain to me what I just watched and why it was good or bad. Help me understand the difference between this option, and any others.

looks like it got rid of the fox shocks and replaced it with an airbag with 1/3 of the suspension travel?

Shock is still there... Its hidden thats all. You can see the bolt at the bottom of the vid

Its an interesting concept but i would think for heavier loads it would need a bit more airbag then what is in that video.

Im interested to hear from folks with more experience, since if there isnt any major draw backs it seems to fit the bill for what i would need. (expedition/camping travel fully loaded rig with fridge/food/gear/spare tires/etc) I could then drop that crap off and hit trails/desert/track and not have any serious issues with running a suspension designed for +1000k over stock payload limits.
