Hi fellas

I am looking for some advice. I currently have a tundra that I am looking to replace. I use my truck primarily as a day to day vehicle and carry the occasional quad in the bed and would only tow a lightweight trailer (2000-3000 lbs)

I am a bit bored of the tundra and I would like a change. I am partial to reliability hence the appeal of my Toyota product. I am not interested in getting another tundra as there has been little change in the tundra models over the years. The engine is the same one from 2007.

Am I crazy to be considering a vehicle that excels off road? How does the new raptor drive in the city? How is the reliability so far? I know forums always tend to highlight the bad stuff but are people generally happy?

Thanks for the advice.

Cheers

Cliff.

I got rid of my 2016 limited Crewmax after 10 months and went with the raptor the only similarity is they both have a bed lol. Raptor hands down is a better more fun truck.

I got rid of my '14 Tundra which had quite a few mods that I really enjoyed. I love Toyota products and wife has Trail Ed 4runner...but the new raptor is so much better. I've never owned a Ford product before either

I enjoy the Raptor for what is... the Raptor is very well balanced it drives great in town, drives excellent offroad, drives great on hwy, better mpg, better power, etc...no complaints other than its more expensive :)

People on forums have issues with everything so I look past that.

That's encouraging hearing from former tundra owners. I am also amazed at the cost here in Canada. It's basically about $100,000 here. Ouch. I am also considering buying a nice luxury vehicle and keeping the old truck. The new luxury vehicle would become my daily driver while my old truck would be only used when a truck is necessary. I am not however thrilled with having the extra vehicle to deal with.

Can a former tundra crewmax owner comment on the size of then second row? With the crewmax it was great having a huge second row.

My supercrew has just as much room in the back as my buddy's crewmax tundra. You won't be missing anything for room if that is a concern for you.

I've been very pleased with my Raptor so far; it is my daily driver in town for my short commute (~10 miles each way) in the Dallas 'burbs. While I haven't had much of an opportunity to take it off road (aside from making my own exit off the Interstate the other day at about 60 mph), I can confirm that it is an excellent, if not particularly fuel-efficient, road-trip vehicle. I bought it approximately 1200 miles from home, and flew in to pick it up. Day one of the trip home was 900 miles... I've never done that many in a single stretch by myself, but the Raptor made it pretty painless.

I have not driven a Tundra, so I cannot comment on similarities or differences between them and the Raptor, I can only say that aside from the cost, I can't imagine why you wouldn't be happy with the Ford.

In regard to reliability, I haven't had any problems with mine to date; every squeak or rattle that I've heard has been crap that I've placed in the truck, and it has yet to let me down in any way.

Reliability is a question on the 3.5 ecoboost. Seeing more and more engine horror stories.
Do yourself a favor and check out the low mile 2013/2014 Raptors.

I have seen lots of posts where guys are referring to the high tech involved with the raptors. Are they talking about the different drive modes or is there more to it than that? I did see some references to the self driving features, perhaps that is what the tAlk is about.
