Yup its a common problem. I sprayed mine with a few coats of clear plastidip. Im hoping this stops or at least slows it down

Guess I'll have the rusty shock look after this winter from all the salt they cover the roads in here.

that's a good idea. Maybe I'll do that when I rotate my tires and put on my SVT caps from Vince on my methods. I always wash the tops of my rear shocks when I wash the truck, but last tire rotation at 20k miles I noticed mine were pitting as well. Not happy as they're a very focal point of the truck looking in the rear wheel wells!

Still reading that 9 page thread, but maybe the maintenance plan I have will help get them replaced out since they are covered under that too.

Thats what the shocks look like after one winter in NY

**** man, now I'm worried about my shocks too. Noticed a few small spots already though...

But I mean when they go out... there's a reason why Fox 3.0s are Boss. Zinc plated and I think corrosion resistant since Zinc acts like a permanent sacrificial anode even though there's little chance of oxidation occurring.

I live in northern NY and I decided to use my stock shocks in the winter since they already look terrible. But I did have my new fox 3.0s on for about 2 weeks in the snow and they already had a bunch of pitting, so I don't think it is going to matter which kind of shock you get.
