You would think if ford wouldnt warranty it that fox would, I would think they wouldnt want their name on a shock that looked like that. i mean that is a focus point on these trucks.

I periodically spray everything under the hood and suspension parts with Boeshield T-9® Corrosion Protection and Waterproof Lubrication. It's marine grade stuff that provides some level of protection and keeps everything looking brand new.

Ordered 2 cans stat. That looks like shit and I do not want to see that on my truck. Thanks for the suggestion sounds like a great product if it is used on all the metal pieces of boats in saltwater.

Would you get the automotive or the marine version? Minnesota - lots of salt on roads. Would want to prevent this...

Nevermind, it's the same can regardless of application. Thanx

FOX - SVT Racing Shocks

That is pretty ugly and so you know they are steel tubes machined to look pretty and then clear coated. The clear coat is not the best answer for FOX. Many off road race trucks will have another finish put on them or chrome plate them. Even if you use brake cleaner on them it melts away the clear coating.

This is not what I want to see. We don't have these problems in California or Arizona. Here is the problem I've been having - The front tires throw rocks while off roading and being in 4x4 really makes to a lot worse. We are doing a lot of shock testing in the sand and in the desert. My truck has 4,000 miles on it and it is now 6 weeks old and this is what my FOX Rock Guards look like.

I am also doing the Factory FOX SVT Shock valving and we are taking it to another level. Yes, the truck will work better with Deavers or National Springs setup - BUT, they also work amazingly well with the factory springs. We valve them for all setups. We do additional work inside the shock besides just creating a new valve stack for compression and rebound. We weld up some of the internal bypass holes and change - what we call Butteryfly shims that cover a bypass hole. This will make the ride on the street a lot more comfortable as well as really increase the off road capabilities. Remember that rear end hop (Like a Bucking Bronco)? Well, this new valving will help settle that down. Have you noticed how the front end launches itself back up in the air after a hard "jump" landing. We got that covered too with a lot more rebound front and rear. The secret is to get the internal bypass hole dialed in with the spring force and have the valving shims do all the rest of the work. Adding more compression valving front and rear keeps it off the bump stops and makes the truck just that much more fun to drive.

Here is a pic of the internal bypass tube inside the shock.

Well guys I went and talk to the service manager from my local ford dealer and he told me that ford has denied the warranty claim.. He told me that there must be a hole in the shock body and the shock would have to leak for it to be covered... Went from the dealer out to my truck got in and called Fords customer service told them that I was less then impressed.... I mean really this isn't a $20000 ford ranger I'm driving it's a raptor for crying out loud. The main selling feature of the truck is that there is FOX shocks.. They gave me no satisfaction at all. Gave me the same answer as the service manager. Needless to say I'm extreme unimpressed!!! Sorry guys had to vent.

You might really trying pushing this one with your Ford field rep, might be able/willing to help you get this taken care of if he knows you mean business.

Also, This is good to be aware of. I will now be watching my shocks as I also live where they use waaay too much salt. This will be my 1st winter with my Raptor, but about a month back-kind of thinking the shocks look like they could come out on the short end of road salt- I sprayed them with a product (LPS#3) that I've had success with protecting metal in the past from oxidizing. It also forms a protective film. I will also be checking out the Boeshield T-9 that was mentioned in another post.
I hope the best for you in getting these replaced by Ford.

after you apply the stuff do you whip it off or let it sit an air dry??
