I have that spray, but I haven't tried it yet. Looks like I have a project this weekend!

Fox Shocks Corrosion

Hi Guys...

FYI...I did the middle perch adjustment on my Raptor this week. Raptor is a 2012 delivered to me in Dec. 2011. It just hit 3000 miles...no exposure to salted roads (didn't even snow this past winter). Additionally, I gave the truck underbody a "Fluid Film" treatment on 2 different occasions over this six month period.

When I got the shock assembly out of the truck and exposed the split ring under the collar, sure enough...corrosion. Here's the pictures. This in my opinion is the result of 2 different metals coming in contact with one another (steel and aluminum). It was unnoticeable in the stock position but now at the middle perch I can see it and it really ****** me off. Like I said, the truck was never exposed to salt. The rear shocks don't have this problem, only the fronts with the split ring.

ls it worth going to Fox and asking for replacements? I have to believe all of our trucks are going to see this happen to the front shocks as I don't believe it has anything to do with salt.

Yep, happens to everybody from what I've seen. Mine included. That looks worse than my 2011 though.

Fox 3.0 corrosion how to clean?

I am experiencing some pretty bad corrosion under my truck... There is white oxidization on the leaf spring u bolts and my 3.0 fox shocks are looking bad. I live in Santa Cruz and wash my truck regularly, don't drive in the mud and it's been to the snow only twice... Is this normal? Is there something I can clean those shocks with to remove it?

Thanks!

unfortunately thats just a side affect with aluminum and the road salt. you should see my stock shocks there missing a 1/4" of aluminum in some spots.. .and there ugly as shit

not that it helps now... but when they first got put on if you waxed/ sealed them with a sealant like jet seal 109 from chemical guys that might have helped. but that being said i wouldnt do it now because i might seal it in and make it worse.
