Any exposed raw aluminum will do this... it's not a manufacturer specific problem, it's a material problem.

Well maybe not, they are painted with a clear coat, the clear coat is failing and allowing the elements and salt to attack the aluminum.
Some aluminum rims have this problem while others hold up in the same environment, the reason is the quality of the clear coat.

No corrosion on my 2013 yet. I use the Boeshield T-9 to keep rust off my woodshop tools. I am going to try it.

I don't have my Raptor yet (ugh) so I'm not really qualified. But it seems to me that the corrosion is really a cosmetic issue and not a functional issue. Ford seems to be taking the position that if the shock is functional it's not a warranty situation. Having said that, if it was not about cosmetics, then why two tone anodized aluminum? I will likely Amsoil my when it arrives.

Same problem on 6 mo old truck. Looks like shit! If Ford is watching this they should step up and put pressure on FOX to do something.

Has anyone tried sanding (emory cloth) them down and applying a new clear coat????

Mine did that but I wore them out and they replaced them under warranty. Just drive it harder and you can do the same thing

im starting to get really disappointed by Fords warranty work... i understand some things are avoidable like jumping the truck then complaining you blew a shock, bent frame and broke a rim lol but this is something that obviously is an issue... when they have a brake line corrosion recall i don't see them turning away people for that... so what would the difference be with a shock that's corroding and possibly hindering its structural integrity...?!
