I have a 2014 Raptor delivered over the summer. I live in New England and all my vehicles, and nearly all vehicles on the roads here, have problems with rust from winter salting of the roads.

When I last looked at undercoating 20 years ago it was clear to me that it was a dealer rip-off and caused more problems than it prevented. Those products, as I recall, were more like what is now applied as a bed liner (Linex, etc).

Today there are new products which, I am told, do not suffer from the same design deficiencies. There is a fair bit of discussion on the web about this. On this site, the only substantive discussion I could find was this thread:http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f36/clear-undercoat-1622/

As you will see, that is a largely a do-it-yourself thread. I'd much rather have somebody who knows what they are doing do it for me. A high end detail shop I trust, but which does not pretend to have a lot of experience with trucks or people who drive their cars in the winter (or, probably in a lot of cases, ever), has passed along the name of the following shop after talking with some customers:

Oil Undercoating of NH

NH Oil now uses a product called "Corrosion Free":

Why Corrosion Free

It apparently also goes by the trade name "Formula 3000".

I am wondering if anyone has any experience with these guys, or with this particular product? The job will cost me $140 bucks and last 18 months, so in the grand scheme of things it seems like its a least worth a shot. I can't find anything to lead me to believe there are any downsides. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

I don't have any experience with the product or its dealers to contribute, but if it lasts for only 18 months one must question its durability.

As a separate matter, since it's clear you probably can't tell where it's been worn away by abrasion, rock strikes, etc. until rust begins to be apparent.

If you look at Angie's List, they actually say that the product they apply is Fluid Flim. So, basically you are paying them to apply a product you yourself could apply. There's nothing wrong with that, just as long as your ok doing so. I used MPHD on my 2011. NH Oil Undercoating | Hillsborough, NH 03244 | Angies List

I hope you go ahead and have them apply it. I live close by and would consider having them undercoat my 2016. If you have a good experience with them. Keep us posted.

I am in Boston. I use fluid film on all my plow trucks and Equimpment. Works great. It is kind of expensive though. I usually bye it by the five gallon bucket on eBay. U can spray it on your self pretty easy.

We use fluid film or CRC corrosion inhibiter on the Jet Ski's engine and such to protect from the salt water we run in and it works great but we re apply often.

DrBangha,
I've used Ziebart rustproofing for 30+ years. They were the first, and still doing well while others such as "Rusty Jones" have failed. I live in Montauk, NY, 4 blocks off of the ocean. in the evenings if you go for a bike ride, the fog tastes salty!
Since I started using Ziebart, I have had no rust problems in any of my cars/trucks. My brother's 95 Dodge 2500 V10 is still on the road with out any rust problems. There is a Ziebart dealer in Shrewsbury, MA.
I cannot comment about the Amsoil, clear coatings, etc. I can say that Ziebart rustproofing works.

Thanks TheJoker- A couple of things I read indicated they also use "Corrosion Free," and they confirmed as much (and that their website needs updating) when I called them- they use both products, but Corrosion Free is an extra $20. I am headed up there on Thursday night and will report back on how it goes.

I've never heard of Corrosion Free before, I' m very interested in their thoughts about the 2 products. I'm guessing that the treatment will cost about $150+/-? How long would it take if they powerwashed the truck and then applied the film?

How do they protect the truck from over spray? I didn't spray inside the doors, which I should have. The rocker panels and bottom edge of the doors are areas which tend to rust out.
