The only convincing you need is a test drive. If you aren't sold at that point a Raptor may not be for you

If this will be your only vehicle, a pickup may not be your best choice with a baby on the way. You’re cargo capacity will be limited with the car seat and related diaper bags, etc. When I pick up family at the airport I take my SUV, as the Raptor doesn’t have enough room for 3 people and their luggage. You can invest in a tonneau cover, but the secure ones are expensive and it’s still tough to access, as cargo tends to slide all the way to the front by the cab.

Have you considered a Tahoe Z71 or Expedition FX4? Neither has Raptor levels of capability, but they are better than the average SUV and offer a lot more utility in terms of interior space and cargo capacity.

On the other end of the spectrum is the Explorer ST and Durango SRT; both offer plenty of utility while being fast and much more fun to drive than your average SUV.

I was going to order a Yukon AT4, but got tired of waiting for them.
It'll be nice when they open up production someday....for an SUV....

I had an F-150 2011 Ecoboost XLT 112K mi...

Went looking at new Raptors, of the VERY few I found locally in So. CA, and jumped on a used 2019 802a, 24K mi, fully loaded, white..
About the same price too

GMC will take a few years to roll out the AT4 and work on imperfections....new model year issues, etc....

Raptor:
Pro - Power and torque are both higher
Pro - appears to have more spacious back seat, very true, but AT4 holds 7 ppl.
Pro - off road capability is vastly superior
PRO- much more badass than an SUV....
Con - fuel economy, depends on how you drive...
Con - will be purchased used, nothing wrong with this....

Not sure why "purchased used" is a con? [emoji848] I bought mine used with 128k miles, I'm about to hit 170k and it's the vehicle purchase I've been most happy with....

Tonneau and load locks. Tonneau keeps eyes off of your stuff, which is 99% of security and the load locks keep everything near the tailgate.

There’s always a risk when buying used. Everything from undisclosed collision or environmental damage to fraudulent maintenance records. He’s listing it as a con because if he buys a Sierra it will be new, if he buys a Raptor it will be used.

Like GordoJay said - throw a hard cover on the back of the Rap and you're good to go. I installed a BedTred, Gator FX3 and a SwingCase in the bed... had plenty of room for stuff and the bed stayed dry as a bone.

Buy the Raptor - you'll love it!

How much for that setup?

I think the tonneau was between $500 and $600. Realtruck had it listed for $599 and said call for possible discounts. I did and they did. Advantage Hard Hat. I've been happy with it and I don't think it would be easy to get into at all as the vinyl is laid over aluminum panels. The load locks I've owned for 40 years, so I couldn't tell you.

Not bad, definitely cheaper than the Ford Accessories cover I had on my other truck.
