Console Lid Storage

Folks,

Recently picked up the BuiltRight Industries Tech Plate (10.0" x 7.5") and the mounting hardware kit. Install was straightforward (though you might have to search for an install video and the Ford clips are their normal stubbornness).

The panel is a great place to put some tools you might need with you. I added a multi-tool/scissors (used the existing belt clip mounting hardware for both but mounted directly to the plate) also a glass breaker/belt cutter (clipped on) and finally a flashlight.

I found a usb rechargeable light from Amazon (OLight Seeker 2 Pro) and I designed and 3D printed a holder for it (I have the file if anyone is interested) so the light will be charged when I need it versus just a black tube with dead batteries.

Overall, very happy with the tech plate and the install. The only thing I would say is, do yourself a favor and mount the tools to the plate THEN install the plate. doh

Any issues with the lid staying open with that weight on it? When you said you installed the plate to the lid, you mean you removed the padding from the outside of the lid and you drilled through the lid to mount the plate to it, am I correct? Is this where the stubborn Ford clips are related, removing the padded outer surface?

You basically snap the inside out of the padded part mark and drill to attach tech plate. It is heavier but far enough past center point when open to easy stay open and does not close too hard (I would not drive with it open as heavy brakes may make that statement not so true)

* I have no connection to BuiltRight. For them I would suggest having the video link on the product page (though you can use the tech plate in many ways, it jsut fits Fords well for this use).

Pretty cool. That Olight at 3200 lumens rocks. I’d take a copy of that file for the mount.

I have the same Build right set up. it's nice but it get too heavy when you load up with too much and the top won't spring open.

Not sure about the 1911 =)

For folks to gauge.. I can lean the lid forward maybe 20° and it does not fall closed. It also does not slam shut. It will not pop open.

with 1911 all bets are off. =)

Sounds like it works pretty well. I’d really prefer DA or striker fire in the auto anyway LOL
