Going in Monday to see if I can work out a deal on a 2012 Raptor. Before I go in I have a couple of questions for the experts.

First, the truck has 32k miles which sounds like a lot of miles for a 1 yr old truck. Should I be concerned with this milage? Unfortunately I'm buying it from CarMax and not the previous owner so I can't ask about the type of driving done.

Second, when I do put eyes on the truck what should I look for that would give me an idea of truck health? Typical issues or problem areas I want to be leary of going into the deal.

Third, is there somewhere I can plug in the VIN and get a build report? I've been able to do this on other vehicles in the past.

Finally, is there anything else I should know about Raptors before I write the check?

Thanks!

Check the gap between the bed and cab on both sides. If the top is larger than the bottom, move on. Crawl underneath and looks for leaks. Check all the fluids. move the seats abck and forth. play with the radio and make sure everything works. voice recognition, nav, bluetooth, EVERYTHING! Take your time, it may be your new baby and you don't want any surprises. If the dealer tries to rush you, tell them to **** off and walk out.

more than likely, it was a lease return or someone that wanted a sweet ride for their daily highway commute.

As far as the VIN goes, you can check it out on NADA or KBB. Ask your insurance company as well.

Run the A/C down as low as it goes, run the truck while you look it over. As stated, look at the gaps, look at the skid plates, look at the lower A arms for damage. Look over the bottom of the running board supports, rear shocks forward side to see if they are rock blasted. Check for shock leaks and after all the looking, get in and run the A/C temp up to 70 and see if there is any popping sounds from the Blend motor which controls all the heat / cold air mixing. Ask if its OEM as far as tune, have it checked so you don't get stuck with a claim and have it denied for being black balled. And last but not least, pay the $1500 for a FORD extended warrantee just in case anything goes **** up.

Now that your scared off, Go buy the new one. If you do buy the used one, these are bad ass rides and all the little shit that may go wrong is well worth it! HAhaaa. REALLY! Oh, and make sure the 4 high and low works. no major clanking. DRIVE IT!

^^^ All good advice. If it was ever tuned, it cannot be hidden from the service tech - which is grounds for them denying warranty work, especially at other dealers. If you don't plan on tuning it, then you deserve to know. Make them check that for you. Sounds like mostly highway miles which are kind. Welcome and Good Luck!

I wouldn't worry. My 2012 has 30k miles since we've taken lots of cross country road trips in it already.

Roger on the bed to cab gap. 32K wouldn't worry me much...mine has 50K and it's as solid as the day I picked it up. Tranny or oil leaks would be alarming, particularly tranny fluid on the bottom of the bell housing. There were some trucks that had bad torque converters from the supplier, mine was replaced under warranty.

Check The Frame.... Make sure the Moonroof works if it has one(mine died as has others no repair must replace $1800 about), others have commented about the AC but it pretty much sucks. When you get in and turn the key listen for tapping coming from a blend door actuator. They are a known issue with all fords. Mine was fixed once and is now making the noise again.

Take a peek at mine. Love it but just use it to drive back and forth to lake, 250 mile round trip and launch boat at ramp. The roush is being WASTED by me. LOVE it, but kinda thinking about selling her.
