Concerns regarding the 10 speed

The ones that are claiming it hunted...were you easy on it the first 500 or so miles?

I haven't been easy on mine at all, drove it hard and in and out of sport, tow haul and normal modes. When in any and didn't like the gear selection, locked out as needed. Haven't noticed hunting...at just over 1000 miles.

Hunting, or working?

I’ve noticed a pronounced delay in Eco mode / 8, 9 or 10 to downshift if you firewall it. Example: You’re plodding along behind some BDP (brain dead Priussy) and finally you’ve had enough, spy a legal opening and nail the throttle. You’re plodding along at say, 45-50, which is enough to engage 10th gear on level ground, doing about 1200 rpms. After you floor it, there’s about a 1 second gap between throttle and action. You do the same exercise in sport and sure there’s a mechanical delay, but not as bad, probably because you’re not dropping 6 gears to go faster.

Stock, or with pedal commander.

Why is this a big deal? if you come off an exit, for example and need to floor it to beat the wall of hyper-miling priussies about to block you, it’s not going to work out well in normal / eco mode. In sport or other modes, it’s more cooperative.

I’ve had one instance of indecisive shifting, that was probably brought on by indecisive throttle. I thought I had enough speed coming off an exit, lifted and then realized I needed more throttle, stabbed the gas and got a loud, clunky downshift as a reward. Didn’t seem to be harmful, just a little... enthusiastic.

I wonder how many of the ‘hunting for gears’ observations are based on us not being consistent or decisive on the throttle.

I have 4300 miles all is fine, except my wife does not want to to use sport mode. I have to admit it does bang the gears but it is fun.
