Afe stage 2 I think. It replaced everything to the throttle body as I figured if I do it I want that big silencer box that says 6.2 gone. It looks nice... makes a lot of cool noises... and that's about it. I got it for $150 basically brand new or I would not have bothered.

I have always heard mixed reviews about intakes in general on Raptors. I have heard good things about Volant and the new S&B. I know that some intakes have come apart during hard off roading. Any issues with this with volant? Or S&B?

What are the real advantages to the intake? Throttle response? More getup and go? Any more feeling of horsepower? I know when I got my exhaust, there's no real gain in HP, but boy it felt a lot more fun. I think it was mainly that hearing more, made it feel like I was going faster. Is this the case with Intakes???

That's what I have had suspicions about. I'm hesitant because last thing I would want is the intake to come apart while in the dirt and dust and have heard from guys that the actual benefits are minimal at best. Just curious to see why the people who love them, do?

i got it because i can just put a larger filter on than stock and you can hear some more noise from the motor through it. I dont love my intake i just dont have the stock intake because when i bought my truck it came with an afe and after a couple times offroad i took it off to clean it and saw that it didnt stop anything i had dust on my throttle body and u can see where water came in too. after that i bought the volant because its a paper filter and its been great with filtering but sometimes you just need to tighten the hose clamps holding it on from jarring the truck around sometimes the intake comes loose.

Thanks @tbone for the honest review. Sometimes people (including myself at times) try to justify our purchases and brag them up just to make ourself feel better about the money we spent. There are things that I've done that I wouldn't do again. I want to help other avoid some of the mistakes I've made.

I'm not saying that people who bought intakes are wrong or anything. As long as someone enjoys it, does it even matter if the results are in the owners head or real? It's the same to the owner, that's what matters. I appreciate honest, unbiased reviews. Thanks tbone

Parts coming loose is the scariest part of it all to me. My brother had his intake on his super duty come apart too. That is not cool.
