Do these tunes allow for octane adaption? Say you get 91 from a random station And the gas and it’s a little “watered” down will your tunes catch this and turn down boost? Or will it rely heavily on the knock sensor readings and adjust timing? Correct me if I’m wrong I’m trying to tap back into my Mitsubishi Evo tune days lol

ddubdb3,

Had a 2003 here... that ECU was deliciously deconstructed. When I got out, it was pretty close to a standalone if not.

I only have 91 close to me, but would like to run 93 when I can. Your question pertains to me in a round about way as well.

All of my tuning offers the same octane adaption as OEM, because its an OEM safety measure not a "feature" from us. FORD at an OEM level does this in the case you get bad fuel and the truck detonates. It'll knock that octane adjust ratio down to protect the motor.

THIS IS NOT FOR YOU TO RUN 85oct-86-87-88oct ETC... ON A 91/93 FUEL MAP!!! Far too often is it marketed as a one size fits all fuel tune that will auto adjust itself. This was not made by Ford to PURPOSELY run bad fuel.

Let me just say that :)

So yes, while it is also incorporated into my tune as well, I do not suggest using it as a "feature".

Would think most would get that... then again, I remember being a vendor and the unrealistic expectations. I was thinking more along the lines of running a 91 tune, and how it would react to 93. I just don't know how much retard/advance is built into Fords programing. Granted, it's not "flexfuel".

Yep, I try to be as transparent as possible. 93 would run the same on 91. The truck will only advance ignition timing up to our set 91oct limits.

So I can reiterate what all have said about working with Winfield, he is a pleasure to work with and very responsive!! Even over labor day weekend he was updating me the whole time!!!

The truck feels great after getting it dialed in. The biggest and best part is how strong the truck is early on and how quick the power comes on. Very fun and very addicting to roll into the boost!!!

Thank you @wgr73 !!! Now you have another Goose Tuned Raptor running around the Northeast

Intercooler may be next....
