Do not get rid of it. Ford put it there for a reason so I would take it to a dealer to have them check it out. If the bushing looks worn out you should replace it.Going over bumps and potholes i hear a clunky type of rattle. I think this thing is the culprit. Its a slab of metal attached with a rubber bushing to a cast iron bracket. It is crazy loose too. The bushing seems to be really worn out. Is it some weird mass damper? Can i get rid of it?View attachment 362522
What year is your truck? What leaf pack do you have on it?
I have a '19 with Icons and it clunks on low-speed articulation. Sounds similar to your problem. The clunk started around 45k miles. I don't have the harmonic balancer.
I changed the shocks, noise is still present. Changing the front bushings and rear shackles (RPG) this week. Hopefully, these will get rid of infuriating clunk noise.
If they work, I'll let you know.
Good luck with fixing the clunk.
Need a heavier one for better launch.its a harmonic balancer.
its ok gen 2s dont get airborn.Need a heavier one for better launch.
