Been my daily since 2014, first and second gen. only issue is if you like to run your truck through car washes. It is too wide.

This was my number one concern before getting a Raptor. Just said what the heck and got one as a DD. Reports are accurate that you get used to it within a couple of week WRT parking. I always back it in and use the cameras extensively.

How exaggerated are the claims that the raptor is too wide and won't work as a daily driver?

Thanks!

Whoever told you that... stop communicating with them. A fine example of someone talking about nothing, just making noise. They obviously dont know what they're talking about, or they are terrible drivers.

I've DD'd trucks in San Francisco, San Jose, LA, Tampa, St Petersburg, all of which dont have the most truck-friendly streets and parking. This is actually my smallest truck (previous - lifted f350 long bed, lifted ram 2500)

It's wide, but you wont even notice it after some seat time.

I would go for a Tacoma TRD Pro if I were to go to a midsize, but I really am interested in the Raptor. I consider myself to be a decent driver, but it's always nice to get opinions of current owners.

I had a 2019 TRD Pro for 11 months before getting a Raptor. It’s not even a comparison. I would say the same thing on the Tacoma World forum. No offense to anyone owning a Taco, they have their place, but it was an awful 11 months for me. Lost a filling on every pothole I hit, engine/transmission combo is one of the worst ever put into a vehicle (and I tried several 93 octane tunes to attempt to make it livable), no space for anything front or back (although this isn’t the Tacoma’s fault, it’s a midsize truck), sound system is terrible, and I got 16-17 mpg driving it like a Granny.

On the plus side, I had no problems with it after 11k miles and it has tremendous aftermarket support.

To each their own for sure...but I would be cross shopping a 2019 Rebel or F-150 KR/Platinum before I’d ever cross shop a Tacoma with the Raptor.

Not exaggerated, this truck is really too wide to have as a daily. Its difficult to keep between the lines when driving, especially on the passenger side since you cannot see over the hood. Constantly getting stuck in drive-up banks and Sonic’s. Get’s scratches all the time because it takes up too much space. My wife can’t drive it, it scares her. It has been very frustrating for the last 5+ years.

If I was you, I wouldn’t buy one, get a regular Ranger and put a DOOD grill on it and be done.

Do you have another vehicle as a daily driver? If not, then what made you keep the vehicle for 5+ years? Low resale value? Glad to see another perspective from a long time member at the forum. Thanks!

My other vehicle is a GT500 Convertible so not much of a daily either.

My Mazda 1988 B2200 was perfect but had to get rid of it 20 years ago.

I actually offer a service to help new truck drivers in keeping their vehicle between the lines, and it works way better than the departure assist. For only 500 bucks I’ll take a can of neon pink spray paint and draw a line down both sides of your hood, and as long as you keep them lined up with the road lines, you’ll be ok.

Once you get the hang of it, my removal process is even better. With a simple, one time application of “Angle Grinder Magic” (TM) I remove the stripes and give you your money back. I offer this service locally, but will travel to any part of the country at your expense, in order to offer this amazing service
