Ceramic tire beads

Rick, not sure, but as a kid I changed many flat tires on my bicycles. I lived on a sand spit at the end of LI. The tires always managed to have sand inside; one bead off to the side, bike on the handlebars and seat and a single swing of the pedal and the sand was evenly dispersed around the inside of the tire. 5 mph?

So what kind of speed do you need to get up to before the beads spread out in the tire to actually work?

You will never notice them. They balance quicker than you would notice an imbalance.

I added beads to my Harley tires by removing the valve core and pouring the beads through the stem. I took off all the ugly weights and the bike has never been so smooth. They work amazingly well. Unfortunately, I expect tires have to be dismounted to add the beads with TPMS in place.

Somewhere along the way I heard they might now work as well in wide tires as in motorcycle tires. However with all the positive comments from those of you using them in your truck tires, I will definitely use them in the next set of tires (if I don't add them to my current set with 10k miles on them).

More than the road with your trucks weight on them?
I run them on my carbon fiber Wheels although not recommended the wheels are still fine.
I’m gonna think the tire and metal wheel will be fine

i tried them in 2 sets of offbrand mts i ran for awhile. 10 oz per tire. had one set road force balanced first, had steering wheel shake, then went with the beads. wasnt any better. wheels were lug-centric methods, and i even tried hub-centric rings. no better. went back to bfgs and road force balancing, and its back to smooth. one wheel on the back took alot of weight, and i was worried that when i rotated it to the front of the truck i might have a problem, but i just had them rotated and its still smooth.
i wanted the beads to work, and maybe they do for some, but not for me. the tires were mts with very aggresive tread patterns so maybe it was just the tires themselves. these are the beads i used

Is it possible that the beads didn't break out of the bag? The first time I had the beads installed the tire shop owner said that there might be some vibration until the bags broke open and the beads were then free to distribute evenly. I never felt a shake...I suspect one of the techs opened the bags of beads while installing the tires so that they were free from the beginning.
You're the first person I have encountered that has been disappointed by the beads. Is it possible they never installed them?

OP here. Just finished a 450 mile drive to San Antonio from our off grid place down by the border. The first 80 miles were at 90mph+, with 20 miles of 100+, hitting the max governed speed three or four times. Gotta get a radar detector

The ride was smooth as silk.
