I appreciate all the responses from the scientists and engine experts that live on the forum!!! The simple question was “has anyone used it and is it any good” ? It says it’s good for cleaning fuel injectors, cylinder heads and o2 sensors!! It’s called cataclean (I didn’t name it) it says nothing about cleaning a catalytic converter !! Everyone complains that the Ecoboost has a problem with carbon build up on the valves!! I figured I’d ask if an additive would help in preventing it and asking if anyone used a particular additive!!! I should’ve known better!!

How would anybody know its "any good"? Do you expect that someone was having engine trouble and then tries this snake oil and instantly their truck ran perfect? Is that really what you thought somebody would respond with?

If it "says" its good for fuel injectors then it MUST be! I would use 2 bottles to just be extra sure that they are all clean!

No champ! I don’t expect an additive to fix engine problems!! But if you never used the shit or have even heard of it is it possible that it just might prevent carbon build up on the valves like so many people complain of about Ecoboost motors?? Does it hurt to do something as a preventative?? It must hurt to be the smartest guy on the raptor forum!! All these stupid questions you have to field from is morons! I figured maybe there’s someone out there with a little more knowledge about the product!! I don’t care if you think it’s snake oil!!

Well wise ass, if you did ANY kind of research, you would have quickly found that a Catch Can is the best way to prevent Carbon Buildup in any GDI Motor.

Or, since you wanna run random Additives through your Fuel System, just run some Leaded & Oxygenated Fuel. That should clear things out real quick and keep things nice and clean in the future.

The Gen 2 engine is both port and direct injected. The port injection 'washes' the valves, preventing most (if not all) the buildup seen on direct-inject only engines, such as the earlier Ecoboost generations.

No real benefit from Cataclean or catch cans. Although the cans might actually provided marginal value, whereas the cataclean is probably only a risk.

The carbon build up is a non issue on the 2nd gen eco boosts with dual injection. And largely a non issue on the 1st gen. To say everyone complained about it when the reality is no one has complained about it on the 2nd gen and almost no one actually experienced it on the 1st is dumb.

No, its not really possible and I have heard nobody complain of carbon buildup on this motor, nor have I experienced any issues with 40,000 miles of hard driving on it.

Yes, it can hurt to do something preventative if it has no value and be harmful.

It hurts more than you can realize to be smarter than most of the morons on here. It really is a curse, no matter how cool you might think it would be to know more than most.

Good luck!

I haven’t used it, but I wouldn’t ever put an additive in my fuel. Your concern is valid, but I think you would be much better off with a catch can.
