Bringing this back up. I currently have a loaner F-150 from ford running Sync 3.3 (It's an SLT) there is NO load screen and the console starts up immediately. I've had 0 issues with car play starting on this regardless of when I plug the phone in or if it's unlocked or not... Maybe the issue is Sync 3.4 or the loooong Ford Performance load screen????

we can suppress the boot screen in FORSCAN, I think it’s called quickboot or something. Maybe it’s worth trying.

I may try this but now I'm pissed that my $70k truck doesn't perform as good as a similar system in a $30k truck.

I have a 2020 with Sync 3.4 and am so frustrated with Car Play I finally turned it off. At least half the time it doesn't connect. Resetting the radio by pushing power and right sync for 6 seconds then resets the ambient light setting as well.

Interested to see if there's a resolution for this.

My dealer just replaced my USB port. It lights up now, they said they tested it with no issues. I got the truck back worked fine for a bit and just tried it and it's wouldn't connect again. Still searching for a solution.

FWIW, I have found carplay to be VERY picky about the cable. I’ve had best luck with ones that were “Apple certified” and they still seem to have a shelf life. Something at some point wears in them and gives up. Dunno if it’s the connector at the phone or something in the cable.

Yup, this and making sure the lightning port is clean are two of the biggest issues I see. We’ve had issues reported a lot on the Jeep Wrangler JL forums but a lot of the time just cleaning lint out the lightning port with a toothpick gets the job done.

Suffering the same issue on my new 2020. It's frustrating to say the least. I haven't figured out root cause but I'll keep on it. Also, I'm going to be hitting Ford up on the regular. My BMW M550 previous to this had wireless car play so not being able to use a wired connection is doubly annoying.

Mine has been rock solid since I got it in late November. Including today when I used it at around 2pm. At 4pm, I remote started the truck and CarPlay no longer works. The USB ports no longer light up, either. I use CarPlay all the time, every day. So this is just so random and annoying...less than 3,800 miles on it.
