Hey pros and cons of cantilever vs bed cage suspension
Some companies offer bed cage suspension of 16" of suspension travel and some companies makes cantilever suspension kit of 18" and 20" of suspension travel.
Will you go for bed cage suspension or cantilever, which one will perform better?

Don't let yourself get drawn into the numbers game when it comes to suspension upgrades. Not everyone makes it as easy as it should to understand the travel numbers.

It's a sales numbers game.. Do you want to put a Roush system on your truck and call it a Roush 590hp truck? Or do you want a Whipple that will get you a little over 500hp? Unless you know Roush is talking at the crank HP and Whipple is rear wheel I bet most most would think that the Roush puts out more. Similar thing with these numbers being thrown out for wheel travel.

The leaf springs on the rear of these trucks can not pull 20" of travel unless they are going too far negative, even then I would be surprised it they would actually pull that much.

Cantilever-

No holes in your bed

Doesn't take up bed space

Able to cycle as much as your leaf springs

Bed cage-

Holes in your bed

Loose some bed space

Able to cycle as much as your leaf spring

More dampening available with larger diameter shocks

It's nice to see when a vendor doesn't bash another product to get a sale, they give facts and give honest info to let their product sell itself with confidence in their work based on performance not just creative writing.

I'm not sure I 100% understand how that statement is to be taken...

We try to always tell it like it is.. Sometimes people don't appreciate what we put out there but we don't loose sleep over it.

So just in case here are a few more things from me...

We don't have a bolt on bed cage or cantilever system that we produce.

Once Rogue has their cantilever available and we fully evaluate it, we will be carrying it.

Once Camburg has their bolt on bed cage available we will be carrying it.

If we ever get out from under the volume of work we have to do at SDHQ we would like to offer bolt on kits but at this time we only offer either of these options as in house builds/installs. Currently our fabrication side of the shop is booked out +/- 6 months so unfortunately it doesn't look like it will be anytime soon. But with solid offerings from reputable companies we are ok with out having our bolt on kits done at this point.

Hey guys! For more info about our cantilever kit there is thread with reviews from TRR and some technical answers. These kits are being finalized should be ready for production in the up coming weeks. We look forward to SDHQ getting their hands on one to really test it out for themselves and giving us their stamp of approval! We think everyone will be impressed with its performance and ease of installation. If anyone has any questions in the mean time, please free to contact us.

Our stage 4 cantilever kit comes with 2.5" taller shackles allowing more cycle than a stock replacement Deaver pack would naturally give. Remember our bump stop kit allows more up travel as we'll. This kit truly works with a 1:1.7 ratio and we'll tuned shocks the ride response is hard to achieve with a bed cage 1:1 setup.
Yes a leaf under is the ultimate answer to any long travel leafed rear. We will release that upgrade stage 5 that works with the current cantilever within 60 days. It comes with a complete rear gusset. With the stage 5 it will be about +$3k with leafs.
If you already have deavers or nationals and want a bad ass kit you can't beat our leaf over stage 4 cantilever. You can always upgrade to a leaf under stage 5!

Good info, personally when it comes time for me to re-evaluate my suspension setup I will probably go with the cantilever setup to keep all of my bed space intact.
