oil leaks, misfires, trans issues are not minor issues

Nor do they seem to be common. 20,000+ Raptors out there and imo the number of people reporting problems is surprisingly small.

I wonder how many people with 2017's ordered are never going to get a truck at all. We are what, a month away from 2018's being built?

4 weeks = 2500 to 3000 Raptors

Find an AG already built with raptorfinder.com and work a deal with someone. If you waited this long for a 17 through this dealer I highly doubt anything will change for the 18.

And hell no you won't get an AG 18.

Why do you think a 2018 built July will be mechanically different than a 2017 built in June? That's not how this works...that's not how anything of this works!!!

Hold out for lower immediate depreciation, B&O Play, or color options Race Red/Leadfoot Gray if you want. Don't expect any mechanical fixes that weren't already implemented during the 2017 build cycle.

From what I have seen, some of the issues I've been seeing are:

* Oil leaks
* Abnormal cam noise
* Wastegate issues
* Misfires
* Intercooler condensation

* Poor idle with AC running

As of now, the misfire is -as far as I know- once reported here on FRF and intercooler condensation has not been identified in a 2017+ raptor except in the internet rantings of sasquatch77, a known, dishonest and delighting in the misery of others FRF troll.

I think you’re missing one; the faulty oil pressure sender, causing a boost drop out. That’s actually kind of dangerous if you ask me, if you drop the hammer to pass someone and boost goes bye-bye, that is not good news. I only recall seeing 2 of those - I think - on FRF, but that’s 2 too many.

I suppose it’s possible that if Ford sourced a defective part or a part that fails at an abnormally high rate then they could replace it mid model year with a revised part. That’s not unheard of.

The real question here is, are you trying to talk yourself out of your order and looking for validation? Don’t get hung up on the negative reports here, keep in mind that FRF, like all the rest of the internet, is analogous to the 24 hour news cycle. If it bleeds, it leads. it’s easy to look on the internet and find bad stuff. Less represented are non-eventful and good stuff.

Absolutely cancel your 2017 order and get a 2018.....then you can help start listing all the quirks and issues with '18s and tell people to wait for a 2019....and so on, and so on, and so on....

Last time I checked there has never been a vehicle made that didn't have some minor issues....that's all these are

I suppose I'll take my chances with the 2017. I have to admit though, the Ford quality control based on everything I've read is a joke.

You also have to understand that this is my first American car, so some of you may be immune to these issues and consider them as "minor" and "normal". Believe me, it's not when compared to the SEVERAL German cars that I've owned in the past.

There are several threads on here where one person after another all with 1000 or so miles went and checked underneath their cars and they all had oil leaks. I'm sorry but when you spend $70k on a truck, you shouldn't be dealing with ********* issues like this. This is all down to ****** quality control at Ford.

I will say this....A German car I ordered had to be subsequently cancelled because the engines were catching on fire....that's a problem....the name of the company, Porsche.....those issues are long forgotten as will the oil leak thing.....Mercedes, BMW, etc all have had some minor issues here and there with new models....

As far a QC the trucks didn't leave the plant with leaks....

There's threads where people's wiring harnesses on their raptors caught fire because the clips they are held by were loose. Something that should have been checked at the factory.

Regarding the QC and the oil leaks... that is a QC issue because the trucks left the factory with loose oil / transmission pan bolts. They weren't torqued down properly and/or checked.

I get your point though, and the point of a few others. I'll take my chances. Like I said, this is still the only truck I would consider buying. I just hope it's worth it, that's all.
