but will forscan enable it completely if I just buy the wheel and module? I am wondering if I can forgo buying a new button assembly and do without the manual button on the wheel by reusing my existing button cluster. If forscan can enable it on the touch screen and I could install my existing switch assembly from my wheel onto the new wheel, I'd be able to get this done for a "reasonable" price. OR can you not buy the wheel without the switches?

2 years later...is this doable? I think there’s a lot more to it then just the steering wheel, hswm and forscan.

I believe so, but not worth it. Maybe some good gloves with Hand warmers would be cheaper

My wife thinks I only have 3 guns

Working on a cheap option for those that have the harness and heated wheel clock spring already in place like the last post by Diverdown3. I’ve been searching like crazy and surprised no one has posted about this situation. I have the same setup.

I believe the only parts needed are an amazon/ebay heated wheel without trim and buttons ~$350 (transfer trim and buttons from your oem wheel), ford hswm ~$30, forscan and modify your steering wheel to clock spring wire harness to include wires for the heated wheel thermistor ~$10 (bright green connector on a full heated wheel with buttons). I just need to figure out where the thermistor wires need to feed in to the steering wheel harness to clock spring connector.

Testing my theory on the thermistor wires tomorrow and will report back with full instructions if it works. Everything else I’ve read requires purchasing a full heated wheel setup with buttons that includes the thermistor wire input, which is ~$1k new for the steering wheel alone.

Confirmed it works. If you already have the hswm harness in place, the only parts you need are the hswm and amazon/ebay heated wheel. You will need to add two wires to the connector for the steering wheel controls to clock spring in the top left two open spots when looking straight at it. Picture below. Your heated wheel will have two plugs…one with thicker wires and the connector that has it’s own spot on the clock spring. The new wires added plug in to the thinner wires from the heated wheel. Then use the following forscan changes.

When you load forscan, make sure to load it as a new vehicle so it will search for the new hswm

1. Heated Steering Wheel Module:
714-01-01-1000-0000-1D

2. select a target temperature for heated steering wheel
A. 76 Degree Steering Wheel Temp: 714-02-01-024C-4C4C-XX
B. 88 Degree Steering Wheel Temp: 714-02-01-0258-5858-XX
C. 90 Degree Steering Wheel Temp: 714-02-01-025A-5A5A-XX
D. 94 Degree Steering Wheel Temp: 714-02-01-025E-5A5E-XX

3. FCIM Programming:

OR
7A7-01-02-XXX9-XXXX-XXXX (2020-2021 trucks with Dual Zone Auto Climate
Control)

4. APIM Programming:
7D0-01-01-XXXX-XXXX-X4XX (Heated Steering Wheel Icon Only)
7D0-01-01-XXXX-XXXX-X7XX (Heated Steering Wheel & Heated Seats Icons)
7D0-01-01-XXXX-XXXX-X6XX (Heated Steering Wheel & Heated/Cooled Seats
Icons)

5. IPC Programming:
If your truck originally came with remote start, you can program the heated wheel to warm up when the truck is remote started. ONLY change this IF your truck came from the factory with the remote start function. 720-02-02-XXXX-XXXX
Taking into account that whatever value your truck has in the place of the red X, add
4 to it.
For instance, if it has a “C” the new value would be “G”
If your value is “1” the new value would be “5”.
