Meant to say valve cover, not sure if it’s the gasket or vacuum pump…

Mine was cracked and leaking in the same exact spot. New Valve cover was around $140 if I remember correctly. Cant help you with the rattle at highway speeds...

I had my valve stems leak oil for a while. Once I drained all the oil out of my tires it was MUCH better. :cool:

I haven't seen one person complaining that a dealer wasn't taking care of a cam phaser issue, other than the fact that the dealers may be slow to get it in to work on because they are backed up, or may have to wait pretty long for parts. I'm wondering where you have seen anything different?

Then its not cam phasers... Probably from the IWE check valve partially engaging the front hubs. Put it in 4A and see if it still makes the noise.
Exactly. If the noise goes away in 4A the IWE system needs to be diagnosed for a loss of vacuum.

Had a similar problem just a few days before heading out on a 4000 km trek to Baja. At low rpms, when lugging often up a small inclince, got water rattling noise. Sometimes there was a clunk and then the noise went away. Didn’t seem to matter what gear. It seems that at lower rpm when you try to accelerate, the turbos need air and it reverses the pressure in the IWE. Dealership said I had to replace hubs and IWE system. Said that it would take days to complete and had to wait for parts. Left the dealership and went to a local mechanic that we use often to work on our old diesel delivery trucks. He checked a couple of things and the vacuum. Then he blew through the check valve and he could blow and suck through it. Replaced the check valve and drove to Baja. Moral of the story…and so many more. Second opinion and start with the simple and cheaper solution
