So how long did most of you let the rattle last before taking it in? I just purchased my 2017 3 weeks ago. I am really pissed that the dealer I bought it from didn't notice this?!? But now its my problem now I guess. I ask because I have a camping trip in 3 weeks and I want to have my truck for it. I am mostly driving to work, about 7 mins, and other than the start up rattle the truck is fine. Well I think I might be noticing the funky shifting the 10 spd has. Both I want to take it for but not for 3 weeks. Should I take it asap or am I pushing my luck if I don't?

Call them and set the appointment for when you get back. The trucks runs with this issues. You only get codes/check engine light when it's far along (bad)

Drive it and let it blow up. That will be your only true path for a replacement, then unload it.

My 2012 made the noise a few times early in its life, then it went away. Over the life of the truck (5 years) it made the noise every now and then a few times a year. When I had about 115k on it, it started doing it once a week, then every other day, then every day and sometimes twice a day. It was getting louder and the noise was lasting longer. I think that was getting to the end. My 2018 Raptor started making the noise this January. Now it has stopped making the noise, but it still has a slight sound right at start up that I know is the noise, but very faint. My dealer said he would need to keep it and it would need to make the noise. I showed him the video, he didn’t care. It might take a month for my truck to make the noise, and it might not even make it then, so I am waiting. I’m stinking mad about it, but I don’t think I’m going to mess with it until I have to. I put over 120k miles on my last truck that had this same problem but at the end, I think it was about to have a catastrophic failure.

What I’m saying is, I don’t think your truck will just all of a sudden blow up.

Just heard from my dealer. Confirmed bad cam phasers. 2018 25k miles
Should I make a big deal for timing chain replacement as well?
As of now he said it's not on list of parts...

Ask them to check the chain for stretch. If it’s within spec, it’s probably fine.

that right there qualifies as neglect in court. You’ve logged the complaint, showed evidence of the complaint - if it’s obviously yours in the video, your service department are just being a$$holes and more importantly ignoring a customer concern.

I wouldn’t accept that, neither would a court, an arbitrator, and I would hope smarter people within the Ford company.

Think about it this way. if the truck was making noise and you knew about it and let it go and then went to have a warranty claim, what would happen?

they tear the engine down and hypothetically the mechanic sees signs of long term damage. Who is responsible?

yeah, your service department needs an attitude adjustment.

This is the first raptor I've seen with significant miles report this, but I've seen a handful of standard F150 owners say the same.

Update from dealer yesterday evening.
He said they were hearing noises from AC compressor so it's being changed along with the VCT system.
I guess good timing on that before summer is in full force...
I asked if they would be removing cab he said no.
