May 2017 build, finally dropped off around 24k. Replaced phasers, I had to pay for timing chains and tensioners. The technician did meticulous work and the entire engine bay looked like a brand new truck afterwards. No smell of coolant, or ticking but I do hear an ever so faint rattle on cold start-ups. Quite bummed.

Does it seem like late 17 and early 18 is the bad batch of phasers? Or is it just a random few?

Fortunately this is affecting very few trucks.

How do we know it’s affecting a few trucks?
Maybe the other owners don’t care about the noise or think it’s normal and never bring it in.

Has anyone gone through the repairs had the problems come back?

My truck is in for this issue. 51k miles and been noticeable for the past 5k miles. Dealer didn’t have an open appointment for 3 months.

Will see what the outcome is

Is this part of the 5yr/60k mile warranty?
