Have you had or have a cam phaser or engine failure on your Gen 2?

Yes, that is the honest way to go. I guess I was asking why anyone would buy an extended warranty if they were going to tune it. I get that you can add an aftermarket air filter, or intake pipe, or heck, even an exhaust. That would be ok for warranty. But, the tune thing is something ford is using to deny warranties... for any kind of issue on the vehicle. I guess I don't blame them.

I don't disagree, but that is the card ford will play so that warranty costs are not on their dime.

Do you really think it is a design problem? I guess that makes sense if they keep releasing new part numbers.

What's interesting is some trucks that have the issue have it come back. Many of those owners reporting that it comes back very quickly.

I believe frequent oil changes and running it daily help avoid issues. Cam chain wear happens when truck is parked for extended times, when started chain is dry.

What's interesting is some trucks that have the issue have it come back. Many of those owners reporting that it comes back very quickly.

my 13 Ecoboost F150 failed at roughly 55k miles (I'm in Canada so 99k kms) then after it failed 3 more times in the span of 24k kms, or 15k miles. my 17 Gen 2 Raptor failed at 17k miles and I gave it back for my Gen 1.

I believe frequent oil changes and running it daily help avoid issues. Cam chain wear happens when truck is parked for extended times, when started chain is dry.

could be that sitting for periods of time create flat spots, which speed up the failure rate? In my experience I drove my trucks daily and it still happened and once it did it never stopped. I have read on here that guys are running different oil than what the dealers use, which they believe helps protect the 3.5 better than motocraft oil. maybe that change will help in the long term.. idk.

haha I can tell you miss it! and to be fair I do miss my 13 and 17, the EB platform is awesome when it works.. I was bummed mine failed so often. I'm glad your's has given you 18,500 trouble free miles.

Gonna be hard for them to deny any warranty on this since there is already an internal memo about the issue AND a TSB is imminent.
