OT, but since you seem to know about Ford fixing problems with their products, what's up with Ford resolving the issues with the new 8 Speed in the Edges/Nautiluses slamming in gear going from park to drive. Dealers have been told "Do nothing, keep checking Oasis, we are working on it." Been a while now since the "working on it" was pushed out.

Last I heard they released a software update but it didn't entirely resolve the issue. They're working on a new software version now. I'd be surprised if we don't see it released before November.

TSB has been released with revised software for Edge/Nautilus 8F57 shift concerns:

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
8F57 Transmission - Harsh Upshift/Downshift, Harsh Engagements, And/Or 4th To 5th Gear Upshift Flare With No DTCs Present 19-2313
16 October 2019

This bulletin supersedes 19-2288. Reason for update: Incorrect or Incomplete Symptom

Model:

Ford
2019 Edge
Lincoln
2019 MKX/Nautilus
Summary

This article supersedes TSB 19-2288 to update the Title, Issue Statement, Action Statement, and Service Procedure.

Issue: Some 2019 Edge/Nautilus vehicles equipped with an 8F57 transmission may exhibit a harsh upshift and downshift, harsh engagements when shifting from PARK to REVERSE, PARK to DRIVE and/or REVERSE to DRIVE with no DTCs present. These harsh engagements may result in an engagement clunk from the driveline. The vehicle may also exhibit a 4th to 5th gear upshift flare. This may be due to various powertrain control module (PCM) software parameters for harsh engagements when shifting from various shifter selector positions. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.

Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all the following criteria:

• 2019 Edge/Nautilus

• 8F57 transmission

• Customer complaint of one or more of the following symptoms with no DTCs present:

- Harsh upshift or downshift
- Harsh engagements when shifting from PARK to REVERSE, PARK to DRIVE and/or REVERSE to DRIVE
- Upshift flare on 4th-5th gear

lame first post here, but I'm in the market for a 2020. a friend had this issue on his, and it was warrantied.....

am I to expect that even the builds as of now (ie late late 19 and 2020+) and forward are still subject to the cam phaser failures?

Or it might be because GM and Ram had redesigned trucks in 2019 and the F150 is a 5 year old design?

“An 8.8% increase in the Dearborn, Michigan, automaker’s truck and van sales the past three months wasn’t enough to offset a 10.5% decrease in SUV sales and a 29.5% drop in cars.”

F-150 sales actually increased.

According to a post by FordTechOne, the current builds have a newly modified phaser and a computer update. Read backwards to find out what the cutoff date was. I believe he said it was April of 2019 and prior that may develop the issue (again check the previous pages).

In the above context, a 2020 should not exhibit the issue. Only time will tell but no one can predict the failure.

On Ford's site, they claim they built the engine to go through hell. It was designed to beat on it at Baja. So one would expect the engine to be rock solid.

I responded earlier that in my late build 2019 (Sept), well after the "cutoff" for the newly modified phasers etc, I hear the same exact sound as the "failure sound" but it is dramatically quieter. Meaning: what I am hearing may be the sound it's supposed to make. If the failure eventually decides to occur, that same sound will get louder and louder until it's quite obvious there is a problem (and will sound like what you hear in the various videos exhibiting the sound).

I took a chance and so far so good but the issue doesn't occur, generally, until you hit 15-30K miles. I only have 1500 miles.
So there you have it. When are you going to order your Raptor?
