That is what the cam phaser failure is. Clicking or ticking or rattle sound on cold start.

Don't listen to this guy. He's in his basement right now pulling his pud thinking he bagged another victim.

Mine clicks and ticks sometimes when it's started. It is not the cam phasers. My biz partner had cam phaser noise on his '13 ecoboost, totally different and unmistakable. His truck made the noise, first start of the day, for over 25k miles, until he traded it in at 110k. Ran fine the entire time. When you hear it, you will know something is not right. Clicking and ticking? Bah..

agreed. I just sold my 2013 in June but had my 2019 since Jan so I had them both for 6 months and the Gen2 truck is better in every way. Regardless, I enjoyed my 2013 very much.

The Gen 2 is a much better and nicer truck in every way. (Flame suit deployed.) You should certainly put this factor into consideration as well.

I need a definite answer on what the hell to listen for... LOL

When starting the truck, it's a loud clattering sound you will hear in the truck with the windows up and the radio on even, lasts for a second or two then immediately stops. Videos on Youtube, I am sure. There are literally dozens of threads on here about it, with the same few slap ***** trying to convince everyone that every truck has, or will have it. For 99%, or more, it's a non-issue.

Ok fair enough. I'll just continue to enjoy the truck. But before 50k miles, I'll take it to ford for a hard look over.

This poll here would argue that 25% of FRF has the issue. Not only that, but had it more than once.
