I just got my Cam Phasers done two weeks ago. I think find another dealer. My dealer got the parts within 5 working days, that was in January. I made the appointment towards the end of February for the actual repair because I was on vacation. But I did get a rental car on my own, now waiting on Ford to reimburse me for that rental… Good luck…

I don’t get it thought 2020s didn’t have the issue, I have a July build 2020 (one of the last of the gen2 run) I was figuring this wouldn’t be an issue, right before my 2018 got totaled it had developed cam phaser rattle (40k miles) was hoping that wouldn’t be something I’d be concerned w/ on a 2020 oh well!

Don’t think either truck consumes oil but I’ll start checking more often
That's what I thought as well, after November? of 2019 they were suppose to be fixed with updated parts.

If it has t i t s or tires you can problems. Sounds like something else is going on anyway.
Yeah the fact it’s still making noise while driving is strange

Doesn’t seem like anyone asked the OP already…..BUT did he check to see if the rattle goes away if starting up after giving gas & letting it crank a lil longer to prime the oil?? Seems like that’s a sure sign of cam phaser issue & if it doesn’t alleviate the sound on startup…& if the rattle continued while driving sounds like it could be something else bigger like an issue w/ valve train, dropped lifted, cam
Lobes warn, piston ring chipped etc etc

That’s not a cam phaser issue. You are low on oil. The rattling you are hearing is no oil to the top of the motor. Not good. These things burn oil. A lot of oil. Mine burns about a quart every 1000 miles. Check the oil level just after start up. If it’s not in the grades area you are a quart low. If it’s not on the stick you are more that two quarts low. Ford has done a good job of covering up this issue. They claim that a quart every thousand miles is within normal usage? That a joke. These trucks will give you no indication of low oil until it’s too late. I know because I’m on my second motor and the new motor I installed has the same issue. You have to be diligent about about checking it. If you drive hard, use sport mode and downshift a lot, these are all factors in the oil consumption. The other thing I would recommend is to set your dash with the oil pressure gauge. Check the gauge at idol with the right amount of oil in it. It should be close to 10psi at idol. That will start to drop as you burn oil. Keep an eye on it. BTW the dealers know there is a oil consumption issue with The 3.5 HP. They will play dumb and do all there stupid software flashing blah, blah, blah. Try to find a good dealer that will own up to the issues hand help you out. Good luck
That is a ton of incorrect and inaccurate information. It is not normal for these trucks to burn oil. There was an oil consumption issue on earlier builds that was caused by the PCV system in the valve covers, that was corrected by valve cover replacement per the TSB. There is no “issue being covered up” despite your ridiculous conspiracy theories.

The maximum oil consumption spec is 1 quart per 3k miles. Most burn no oil, including mine.

Oil pressure does not change with oil level, that’s completely wrong. If the oil level is between the minimum and maximum spec, the oil pressure will be consistent. It will not vary based on level. If the oil becomes low enough to starve the sump, pressure will drop to zero.

If your oil pressure is 10PSI at idle and drops from there, you have engine damage. Typical engine oil pressure at idle is ~20PSI.

I had the exact same issue, P0018 and P0021 codes. Engine rattle that kept getting worse, Loss of power and Misfiring while idling, truck actually shut off at a light.

Dealer replaced cam phasers and timing chain. But this did not fix the issue other than the rattle.

Took it back, and dealer replaced the Cam shaft actuators as this was their next best guess of what the issue could be.

Truck seems to be having no issues at this point.
