So how does DMV verify the purchase price? When I registered a used car at AAA they don't verify the purchase price and it's whatever you tell them. I wonder if I can do the same and register it at AAA and state my purchase price.

Try telling them that you paid $1 for your Raptor. It'll be fun.

WOW, thanks MikeH and Twisted...I have spent the past 3 weeks finding my Raptor and just ordered it out of state today for $1K UNDER MSRP! Fed Ex'd the deposit earlier today. I had assumed that all vehicles produced these days were 50 State compliant, but a friend said he tried to by a Raptor out of state and couldn't as it was only 49 State complaint...these da@% greedy dealers here in CA make it a real hassle to get a Raptor...anyway, it heartens me to read your experiences that yours were 50 state compliant and you were able to register in the People's Republic of CA!!

OK, so after reading the "marathon thread" (referenced above re: CA Emissions) I'm pretty sure that all new vehicles (here in the US) are 50 State emissions compliant and will have the CA Emissions info on the under hood sticker. Appears that if ordered outside of CA then it is not listed on the Window Sticker, but CA DMV only cares about the under hood sticker. Thanks everyone for your input was worried there for a while.

You cant register a new financed car at AAA. Some people have done the outta state to CA deal and it sounds like a pain in the a-s-s. Lots of things you need to have and get done in order to get it titled in CA. Dealing with anything CA related is dumb but if you can get a deal on a truck outta state and you have the patience and time have at it.

I live in CA and got mine out of state. It was really easy. Got the truck weighed, got the truck smogged. Went to the DMV wrote them a check, and it was all set.

For sure if you know what to do and plan on doing it, it isn't too hard.

Was your truck financed or paid in full? I heard you need to provide complete sales info and proof of origin/ build certificate. I heard if it is financed it is hard to do it all but if you have the truck paid off its easier.
