Not saying they don't for sure but my 3.5's got slightly warm after over an hour of passes through Barstow mains big whoops. We beat the living shit out of the truck that day.

Disclaimer on the video. The vid maker now runs a prominent raptor parts and fab business that starts with an S and ends with a C.

******** @2014RubyRed did it again and made me second guessing again my decision, he was right last time so can't ignore it.
Same question as in threads title but from different perspective. We need to carry lot of stuff (+800lbs) on trips and would like to know can 3.5's handle that kind of weight or should we go for 4.0's
@Fb73

I really think that you need to concentrate on springs and finding a system that will hold the weight that you guys haul. Adding a leaf or two will bring better gains than larger shocks, IMO. If you added 2 spring leafs, and had a bypass rack with 3.5's, I think you could handle it. Since this epic desert trip only occurs once a year, I think you could probably remove the extra leafs for your normal driving without beating yourself to pieces around town.

Just something to think about because I don't think larger shocks, even with a bypass rack, is gonna get you where you want to go.....

someone on the FB page just added deaver 5+ because of the weight of their rack. i'd agree that quality HD springs would be your starting point.
