I wanted to tell everyone how I came across ordering a 2013 (white scab).

My wife and I each owned a Chevy Z71 tahoe and liked them very much. We drove them both for almost 10 years. They started to rust so we decided to trade them both for a next generation loaded 2011 Z71. I have owned it for about 10 months and have regrettted it every since.

In spite of the slight HP increase, the gearing was raised so it doenst tow as well as the old one and the interior is primitive (ie cheap) at best. It downshifts on slight highway grades without pulling anything. Our previous two didnt. Now put a 5000 lbs boat on the back. :emotions122:

It was not nearly as well built as the previous generation.

I told my wife I wanted to evaluate a Raptor and she told me no but agreed to come along. We test drove one and she didnt say a word until we returned to the dealership. After we got out of the truck, her only comment was "Which style doors do you think we should get?".

The Raptor wins with Engine performance, Interior fit and finish. Desert racing ability asside, the bottom line is there is no comparison.

I think when my 2013 arrives, I may hitch up the boat and see how well it handles towing a boat at 80mph across a corn field.:laughing1:

Welcome!

I owned an 06 GMC 1500 Z71 before this truck and I never liked that truck much, it was mechanically rock solid, but the interior was horrible and completely cheap. I was glad to move up into the Raptor for sure.

I did the same thing with my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland V8, bought it and regretted it within a month. I only had it for 6 months and ordered a Raptor and even though I took a pretty big hit on trade I haven't regretted it once, I love this truck!

Be careful towing your 5000 lb boat at 80. 5000 lbs is close to the towing capcity. The rear suspension limit's the Raptor's towing ability. Don't get the Raptor as a tow vehicle.

The post by 012BLUESVT let the OP know to go to RPG for interest in increase in towing capacity...

I believe 012BLUESVT, is referring to the swap for the 2.5" Bump Stop for the 4" Bump stops. (see video link Below)

BTW...Congrats to the OP!!!
Great choice going with the SVT Raptor!!

I often wondered how happy I would be with one of those too (although not as a towing vehicle). I have owned a couple of Grands before and still have an old Comanche and a '09 Rubicon and like Jeep very much. But the lack of a pumpkin on the rear axle and it's outward appearance makes me wonder if it is an SUV or a crossover (ie car).
