So… I’m still trying to find out why I shouldn’t save money by shopping out of state.
You missed a bunch of sarcasm. But so did most of the folks who read this thread, so that's more on the source and the medium. Buy one wherever you can find one. I usually buy out of state, too, because Colorado is doing it's best to ape California and it's working.

Simple answer..."ADM keeps the value up on all trucks up."

@New recaros, wasn't it you that made that comment? Let's refresh...

"See you don’t seem to know much about economics. You see, when the ADM’s stop, that means the value of all raptors decrease. So, he found a nice truck, willing or considering an ADM, that keeps the value up on all trucks up. Almost everyone is paying ADM’s. I do agree it’s a bit steep, but clearly not alone paying for what he wants. Write a check for 10k over sticker, bet he drives away in a great slightly used truck."

The gentleman you made this comment to, did you give him the same advise..."Go where you get the best deal?" 10K over on a used truck ain't a good effing deal when he could buy new for practically the same damn amount...if not better provided he puts in a little effort.
If 10k over sticker is the best deal then buy it. I don’t think I said it was a good deal, some people don’t have the time or resources to shop all over.

That’s right instead, just ship the homeless and migrant workers to other states like they’re not human beings.

It's been addressed enough already, but I wonder why you didn't have issues with the Federal government shipping out the illegal immigrants in the dead of night to places that didn't declare themselves a sanctuary for illegal immigrants.

Also, I think Abbot has made perfectly clearly that busing them to DC/NYC was not his first choice. Preferred solution is to let the Border patrol do their job and enforce the border. Stop the migration through Mexico that's causing cartels to get richer while rapping and take advantage of others plights. Abbott doesn't want migrants to remain in cages on the border, or overcrowding border towns, damaging property. So given that the Federal government won't do their job, and the Governor has a job to protect Texas towns, seems to busing them to place that have publicly declared they are welcome there seems like the best option.

I mostly agree with this, but I do think there is some room for considering what the seller is going to do with their profits. I mean, sometimes it worth more to pay for made in America than made in China, or sold by upstanding guy vs sold by a scumbag, as the case may be. Modern communication for sales has changed that quite a bit. You can find the good guy across the country to buy from rather than the local scumbag. Or you could buy from someone completely unknown and have no idea what harm your money is doing, completely oblivious.

True. I don't buy from Amazon any more for that reason. But when it comes to pickups, things are less murky. Cali dealers charge more, yes. But their expenses are higher. Much higher. And their customers make a lot more money than the folks in flyover country. So mostly it comes out in the wash.

Regardless of what state you purchase your truck in you will have to pay the sales tax of your city upon return to California. The tax revenue is what helps your city survive, the ADM and builtin profit is what helps your wealthy dealership owners. Though most of their profit comes from the Service managers, add-on warranties, car mortgages, and foo-foo they charge you for undercoats, window etching, etc.
Might as well buy out of state, your California dealership is still going to make a sizeable profit off of you, your city as well.

I buy much less from Amazon, but still cave every now and then. In many cases, price difference from their and elsewhere that I am torn between 'cheap chinese' and feeling like I'm being taken advantage of.

As far as dealers, go there is a dealer near me that's got prime real estate, new building, great service department. That's where I go for service. Then there is a dealer near by that's an old building in a more rundown part of town. I go there first to buy.

They also sell way more volume which should make up for the high cost of living.
