Buy Wrecked 2018 Raptor - Requesting Feedback

Greetings everyone! So a dealer has a 2018 Raptor on their lot with 3k miles on it. Problem is that a motorcycle had hit the driver's side door and the owner no longer wanted the truck. Traded it in (after it was repaired) for another truck. I want to hear feedback from you guys to see if it's worth pursuing.

Also, is there a way to track by VIN # what was done specifically to it for repairs after the accident? Difference between a bike hitting it at 10-15 mph braking as opposed to the truck getting T-***** by a bike at 50-60mph plus.

I'm tempted to pursue this deal if I can get a good discounted price and if I can confirm the severity of the damage.

id be going through that truck with a magnifying glass. Did the owner trade it because he/she was unhappy with the quality of the repair?

Was the truck repaired by a ford certified body shop?

The aluminum trucks are much trickier to repair, especially cab damage.

If you do buy it you're going to have a hard time unloading it unless you get rid of it cheap, just like the dealer is trying with you. I'd skip, but it's your money. Good luck.

All great questions Zombie. And same questions I asked the dealership, which they stated they "did not know" and that the truck came in repaired. That.s why I was hoping to find a source where you find where trucks/cars have been repaired and the details of the repair. If the drivers door was a grazing hit at 10-20mph not a huge deal IMO but if it was T-***** at 40-50-60+ that's an issue. Still digging but not looking good. I appreciate the feedback!

Thanks donh. Agreed in that come resale time, the value will be questioned due to same situation I'm in now.

$67k but they know they are going to get low-balled. I was going to offer them cash at much lower pricepoint but wanted to hear from you guys first.

unless the repair shop is a reporting shop ( most are not, or do not report to carfax, nor insurance agencies including Geico, allstate, etc)

I also do not think that the various "reports" include the name of the shop.

It is super easy to make aluminum body panels look okay, but functionally brittle which could lead to a whole littany of issues, including creating a shear point.

Is saving a couple grand on a raptor worth risking a structural failure during a front or side impact and thus, most likely death when a structurally sound variant would have kept you safe?

The decision of risking the unknown has to be a personal one.

You're right Zombie and I'm not going to know any of that as I've made some calls and cannot track that info down as of yet. So that results in a risk if it's unknown not to mention resale value.

$67k? **** that place. Go buy a new one for $70k and count your blessings for being smart enough for not buying a wrecked Raptor. Life is too short. Get the best. Or, if you really wanna drive something amazing that everyone will really respect you for, find a low mileage Gen1. Then you'll appreciate what a real Raptor is meant to be......LOL

I would much rather get a new one for 2-3k off msrp than trying to negotiate on that one. There are dealers posting below msrp on here.
