Break-in Period

This will be my first Raptor and actually my first ever Ford. Is there a generally agreed upon break-in technique or period for these engines or do you animals just let it rip straight off the showroom floor?

Realistically per ford (I'm a Ford mechanic)they recommend one driver driving the vehicle (for the adaptive transmission to learn habits ect) so drive it the same during this time(don't one day be aggressive and next day be a grandpa). Stay consistent for 200-500 miles for it to learn. As far as break in period per ford it's 5000 miles. I would also recommend as someone said do an oil change maybe 3,000-5000 miles. Ford does say you can go 7500-10000 miles for oil change but honestly I'm going to do one early at 3000 miles then go 5000 miles from then on. Also I will do a GDI oil change kit(fuel and oil cleaner) once a year or every 15k-20k. That is a good practice to get into with GDI vehicles.

I drove mine easy for the first 1,000 miles. No full load operations and no kickdowns. I kept RPMs at or below 4,500, and no faster than 85 mph. Then changed the oil at 1,000 miles and again at 5,000 with amsoil full synthetic signature series and then changed the rear diff oil at 1,500, again using amsoil.

I currently have and have bought many AMG Mercedes, they all came with stickers on the inside windows stating the break-in periods, I basically followed their guidelines. The one pictured here, is my G 63.

on my 19, I changed the oil at 5K-- I drove it from day one like I would drive it... on the 21- I will change oil early and follow some of the recommendations I see posted. At 5K on the 2019 raptor, I was a quart and a half low and got a low oil pressure warning. I never had loss after that, but Ford told me it was typical.

Pistons, rings, cylinder walls and bearings (pretty much the entire engine and any moving parts) all need to seat properly. It's marginal as to the long term effect of babying it versus driving it like you stole it out of the gate. I prefer to run a break-in period similar to what Ford recommends and what @tooldrmr2009 stated above.

5k mile break in? I've never heard of a break in that long on any vehicle.
