I do take mine off road but I would not consider it a lot. I think it is a problem with the system and not just Fords. The guide pins have a rubber boot and are greased to help prevent them from sticking. My dealer said they Should be inspected and lubed every 15-20,000 miles. My dealer has said they have seen this problem Frequently. My point to Ford was - if they know this is a common problem they should redesign it ---- OR if they do think the guide pins should be cleaned and lubed every 15-20,000 miles, that procedure should be mentioned in the service book and DEALERS should do that as part of routine maintenance.
