I went to my local muffler shop and found a Borla 40349 muffler for $50 and welded in for $50. It sounds great and no drone at crusing speed. It sound so much more aggressive than the oem. I looked on ebay and they run anywhere for $110 to $189 a lot better the $1000 for the cat back.

I did the same mod, no drone at highway speeds. I left everything else stock and left the resonator. I love it

Great, thank you for the reply, that's what I needed to push me over the edge!

The only thing I'm thinking of is maybe trying a Borla 400286 , it's the 2.5 dual in dual out, so I would need a y pipe adaptor built , but it would be a higher flowing muffler, in theory anyway.

Anyone get a 3 inch to 2.5 magnaflow Y pipe and install the Borla 400286 turbo XL , dual in dual out muffler?

This would seem to be the closest to the type s setup , dual in dual out , cat back without spending $1100 dollars.

I agree that it probably would have a higher flow rate, but the difference would probably be negligible. The trouble you'd go through doing that probably wouldn't be worth the difference. Id go for different headers if you really want higher flow rates. Just my $.02
