So the other day it happened. Long story short motor lost oil pressure while driving on the freeway and within a couple miles it grenaded, and oh do I mean grenaded. 7 of the 8 piston connecting rods broke, most pistons are seized in the cylinder. When we opened the oil pan it was full of rods, rings, bearings and various head components.

Luckily it’s covered under my extended warranty. Truck has 62k on it lol, just missed the factory warranty of 60k. Just waiting on the final approval. Even luckier I got a great service advisor that said once the motor is in the shop I can have at it. So I plan on a complete stainless works exhaust system, headers, cat delete and axel dump mufflers. (No emesions law in CO) and mind as well add a larger trans pan while it’s on the lift. Once I get it back I’ll be adding in an UMP intake and getting it dyno tunned. Any other ideas before the motor goes in??

Fear not @nick0331, you’ll be back on the road (and off) soon. Great call on the warranty! That rod is knackered.

I hope you’re back in business soon.

hey @MGD, good thing he had the extended warranty, huh? :flipthebird:

Can you pm me details of what happened, sound, smoke etc. I know of another 6.2 down that shut off on highway low oil pressure warning and never started again. No sounds, no error codes, no leaks but crank is seized up and I. Curious to see what that one turns out like.

I didn't think these motor had many issues? Are you going to add billet oil pump gears to your motor? What has been time frame from getting to dealer and eta on when it comes out? Does for do a new motor or just a rebuild?

X2 on upgrading the oil pump while you're at it... Sucks about the motor, but at least you were still under warranty. I don't think this is normal with the 6.2. It seems to have a pretty good reputation of rock solid reliability.

Yeah I’ve never heard of too many motor issues. Not sure about an oil pump. Ive seen the L&M billet gears but not the actual pump, is that what you mean? Wasn’t planning on spending an extra 2k on complete exhaust especially around Christmas. But such is the Raptor life.

Literally just sounded like the motor exploding, parts breaking and siezing, black smoke from oil. Then when I shut it off and tried the key (not sure why) nothing. DEAD IN THE WATER

Have you thought about cams? With those and intake/exhaust you would be up over 500 at the crank / 400 at the rear.
