Alright, read most of this thread.

What's crazy to me is that the cop on here is trying to expose the invasion of privacy and telling everyone what these cameras are really used for, and everyone else is making an argument against it - placing a tinfoil hat on the cop. Who do you think actually has more experience with this technology and how it's used?

The world has certainly changed....
He isn’t a cop.. he’s just a big talker. Definitely not all there. I sure hope this weirdo wasn’t a cop. Jeeesh!

Cops are human, so there is bound to be some tinfoil wearing officers around, just like some members on here, goes with the territory. Don’t be naive about the possibilities.

I do, I flew aircraft and conducted sorties engaged targets on the ground and air using ECM Jaming Radar and lidar and this has been going on for years. I would say I have more experience in Technology. If this cop was working at NSA it would be a different story. My brother is a LT with the biggest agency in Southern Ca and super Mario brothers is high tech to them! So, put tape on it! Lol that was

Everyone should already know that a black box, aka Event Data Recorder is installed inside all newer model vehicles. It was originally intended to record stuff like seatbelt usage, speed and brake pedal pressure. However, that was yesteryear. Now it actually films the driver! I will backup a bit. A few days after I took delivery of my CO 37, I was seated in the LF and noticed a small dark tinted window on the left door and above the SYNC 4. After I read the stuff in the owners manual that most people skip, I discovered a camera is behind the tinted window. Ford as well as NTSB indicates the camera is only active during the proceeding 30 seconds of an event. Although I do not know it to be a fact, I have good reason to believe that the camera is on a two minute continuous loop. In my former life, for five years, I was a narcotics cop and I would often write a “sneak and peak” warrant (Google it), to obtain data on a drug dealers vehicle. I won’t go into specifics because I am positive those types of warrants are used today, but I will tell everyone that the black box is always in operation……ALWAYS. READ THE ATTACHMENTS and do your own research. There is a lot of stuff used to monitor people in a “free society“. The first link is off the topic, but it is an example I use to make a point. The second link is about the EDR!

Thank you for sharing this. I checked the manual and agree with what you found!

Do you know where in the truck the data recorder (not the cameras -- I know where they are already) is located? Thanks!

You may have mistaken my first post. I believe I have much more experience in this arena than probably anyone here. Although I’m not a developer, I am a professional end-user of these technologies. There are horrendous and mind-boggling technologies that are out there and being used right now. Just because you never experienced them in your arena does not mean they don’t exist.

I won’t discount that but I’ll say this:

What this user says (whoever he is, crazy or not) is dead accurate. Im speaking from much experience.

Oh for sure, if you are talking about surveillance , but to think that Ford is putting that in vehicles to watch you like a peeping Tom is plain just Ludacris. I don't walk or drive around looking over my shoulder , I'm not a bad person nor do I have a guilty conscience, so I don't need to worry about that stuff. Vehicle accidents are rarely a criminal offence as well and it wouldn't take 5 minutes for a criminal to pull the box out of a Raptor and destroy it or hide it forever, therefor destroying all proof of his/her activities. The real criminals are far more ahead of the average police officer in technology.

At least in "gone in 60 seconds", lol.

I agree on that, lots of stuff out there. That is why I don’t live life like a dirty bird!

Ford is putting that in to watch you. They don’t care to do the watching, they care about selling it for enormous amounts of dollars. You must’ve not read my original post.

“I don’t do anything wrong so I don’t care.” You should bc it’s still an invasion of your privacy. And you don’t do anything wrong now by definition, but wait until they change the definitions of what is wrong. (See the Dept of Homeland Security latest release on what “domestic terrorism” is. And aren’t Canadians suppose to understand all of this, especially right now?)

Also, casually giving up your rights bc you think you’ll never be targeted leads to giving up more to a greater extent. And what they aren’t telling you is that the technology isn’t just for spying, it’s also for framing or supplementing false evidence. (Also see latest release of Durham report on Clinton spying and implementing fake evidence on a future and active President.)

Just because the black box gets taken or destroyed doesn’t mean the data hasn’t already been uploaded. It would be stupid for them not to have it uploaded because they wouldn’t be able to make money off of it if that were the case.

No offense, but The Gone in 60 Secs reference is very typical: framing your reality based on movies…even if you are joking.

All this to say, I find it bizarre that people who have no clue about all this would argue with someone who has used these technologies in the course of their work and still has to from time to time. If you don’t believe me about this little stuff, you are definitely going to think I’m a sociopath if I were to tell you all the really advanced technology tools I’ve used. Blow your mind. But, it is the internet…

Enough of all this.
