Looks like everyone got too scared to do it.

Not scared. It is a matter of time to do it. Work, Races, family, other events, hobbies and other Raptor Runs take up my time. Living in Nashville now makes it logistically difficult as it is 2 days down there, 2 days back and whatever time I spend down there. I have my schedule lined up usually a year in advance. Trying to PreRun this is a PITA because it requires getting down to Terlingua then spending a few days down there to do it ahead of time. I for one will already be down there with Dubbs at the end of Sept for our yearly Terlingua event. I plan on taking a couple of days before our yearly Terlingua event to go Prerun the Big Bend State Park.

Hotels: There is only one I would stay at, Lajitas. Entrance to the park is right down the road.

I'll chat with Dubbs and Sportscars about possibly making this happen as a run, but I would feel a lot better having prerun it and had the GPS's mapped for participants. I am fairly certain that one of the requirements would be a top perch mod to the Raptor. My understanding is that this is really rough country, you could drive around for days and not see a soul.

I took my F250 there about 10 years ago and it is isolated! You really have to want to be there or be REALLY lost to get there.

But there are a lot of rough, gravel lightly traveled roads down there. I am in the process of working on a couple other events, but I can move this one up my list if you people are REALLY interested. I could make it a 2 or 3 day event. Maybe October or November???

I am going to do this right before our Terlingua 2012 event. Looked at my calendar and have penciled it in. Oct 1-2. It is a Monday/Tuesday. Arriving at Lajitas on Sunday Sept 30th. Plan on taking off from Lajitas 8am on the 1st.

Yeah, it's not a scared thing. Lajitas is under "new management" for the 4th time in 3 years, and we are having some growing pains and communication issues with them on a much larger event. I want to make sure my attendees are well taken care of before we part our name on something like this, and SPRSNK is absolutely right- we need to Pre-run and get gps markers established. I think the safe bet will be to push this until next February. That will allow us to verify that the new folks will work with us, get everything set up beginning of October, and give us 4 months to give everyone time to ask off. Should be pretty cheap except for hotel, but they have rv and primitive sites as well. We will keep this thread updated.
