I just utilized some standard rust oleum flat black. I need to repaint it as she has seen a fair amount of rock chips. Next time I will put a few coats of matte clear on it too.

Plastidip. That way you can always go back to stock

Should have a flex agent in paint or say that is rated for plastic.

Proper prep is the most important

+1 on using plastidip. It is easier to do and no special prep need. Just clean the surface really well before using the plastidip.
