Are the Sears Diehard Platinum batteries an AGM design?

Edit: Confirmed that the Platinum is an absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery at the Sears site, and also confirmed that Group Size 65 fits the Raptor.

I mean I like the color of the Diehard better but as it's apparently the Odyssey underneath, I stayed home and saved money with their sale .

I just got home with my new Sears Platinum. $251.34 plus tax. 12.63 volts as-delivered. Got it on the Battery Tender to fully charge it prior to installation. I think I'm going to use the Battery Tender to keep the truck electronics powered during the swap so that I won't have to go through the re-learn procedure.

UPDATE: After a few hours on the Battery Tender the Platinum's voltage measured 13.08 volts.

I do agree with many of the other members that Red Top batteries are phenomenonal for the use and abuse. I used a red top in my 82 Bronco for 6 years before the truck was totaled, then it moved to my Blazer before it died after 3 years. But I also do like the Odyssey Batteries as well and are bullet proof.I do agree with many of the other members that Red Top batteries are phenomenonal for the use and abuse. I've had everything from Mustangs to Econolines to Super Duty's to T-Bird to Raptor to Broncos and any battery is better than Motorcrap!! How Ford can install such a crap battery in their cars is mindboggling. Here is the funniest road service I had through Ford Auto Club, came out one day and F350 is dead as a door nail and not that old so called them up and they sent out the guy to jump it and keep in mind he is from Ford and what did he use to jump it, an Interstate battery and I just started laughing. The 2 trucks I had issues with I installed Optimas and problems never occurred again

Just had to change my battery. went with the Optima Yellow Top.
yes you did. i think that was the easiest part of your install......

optima has been real good for me. there was a point where they had some bad batches of batteries, but they are back to their old self. i gave a friend of mine my old yellowtop. and when i say old yellowtop, i mean i bought it in 2003. i used it in my spl car and then took it out when i got rid of the car. put it into the wifes minivan. pulled it out when we got rid of that. put it into my outback, pulled it out when we traded it in, sat at my shop for 2 years. tested it and it still had 12volts 2 years later. put it in my friends diesel f350 a year ago and is still running strong. the yellowtops are great for vehicles that run a lot of current. my stereo killed my battery in my truck within a few months. had to replace it. put in another yellowtop. they work for me.
