I was under the hood checking fluids yesterday and I noticed the top of the battery was a bit wet on top. Upon close inspection it seems seal between the positive battery terminal and the case failed. It took a lot of time and a lot of baking soda paste to neutralize the acid on the cable clamp. About half of the tin on the cable clamp is now gone. Hope I don't get a lot of corrosion.
Pretty much sucks to have a 16 month old battery fail like that.
I'm in the same boat and will have to take care of this shortly as well. Does anyone know if the SuperStart Extreme batteries (O'Reilly Auto Parts) have the same size breakdown as the Die Hard Platinum? I've heard that it's the same battery, just re-branded.
They are not the same. The SuperStart is the same as a "DieHard Advanced Gold AGM Battery" and is a lesser power/quality battery compared to the DieHard Platinum made by Odyssey.
