So... I just got back from my deployment and have an issue with my ride. I parked it in Nov and my wife drove it only about 3
250mi between Nov and my return last week. Well i popped the good yesterday to install some parts and found a large tennis ball form on my pos battery cable/batt term. Upon closer inspection there is a split in the top of my battery around the base of the pos term, which is where I believe the corrosion is coming from. After cleaning the majority of the corrosion away It appears to have eroded almost half of the pos. Power cable away to boot. I made an app at the dealer for it... What do you think the odds are they will cover it under warranty? They are the only people ever to service it and the truck only has 10k mi on it. Not what I was expecting when I got home... What a pain in the arse.

thats going to depend on the dealer. i really dont see how you could have done anything to cause the damage that quickly, so i would push for them to cover it. ocean water took 3 years to corrode through a 14 ga speaker wire in my last car. but the question remains, i dont think it happened between nov and now. i think it has been longer than that. so what have you done that could possibly cause corrosion? a pic would be nice too

Play the deployed ticket on them. They'll replace it. What dealer are you going to? since the battery case is broken then they may try to say abuse some how but I would definitely tell them the truck has been sitting while you were deployed and when you came back that's the way you found it. Otherwise pick up a Sears, Platinum replacement. made by Odyssey batteries who makes Military and top of the line batteries. LOTS more power and reserve power.
Welcome home also.

Welcome home, Scott 13; thank you for your service! I want to get this moved up the line to your regional customer service manager so they can assist. To make this happen, send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and servicing dealership. I'll do the rest. :)

Crystal,

Thank you so much for the offer.. I just now saw this (been busy since I've been home). The dealership was great (Peoria Ford here in AZ)... They fixed everything under warranty ( new battery, power cables, and some other parts) and gave me a loaner car for the 5 days it was in the shop. Truck is running great now.

That's what I like to hear, Scott; sounds like your dealer treated you like royalty! I'd be happy to document your feedback about Peoria Ford; send me a PM with your name, best daytime phone number, and any details you'd like me to include. I'll get it entered in our system for the appropriate folks to review. Additionally, if I can be of any assistance in the future, I'm always happy to check out options. :)
