Several threads out there but figured I would post here. Woke up today and my '21 has, yet again, a dead battery. This is the 3rd battery in 23k miles. (original + 2 replacements since then). Ford Mobile tech coming today so going to try to challenge them to check the electrical see if they can find anything. Not sure if i have the dreaded parasitic drain or its these Ford batteries. Today was also the first time that even though the battery is dead, i have the loud thumping repeating through the entire sound system (its still going as we speak). @FordTechOne : Have you ever seen/commented on anything like this? Was looking for any posts you may have had something to say as your feedback is always appreciated.

Again- I'd try unplugging the BMS sensor and see how it goes for a while. There are no downsides other than auto start stop might not work.

It sounds like you definitely have a battery draw. The mobile technician should bring an ammeter to verify that before replacing the battery again. Obviously continuing to replace batteries is not fixing anything, something is causing them to discharge.

@FordTechOne : thanks for the quick reply. The mobile tech did a lot of tests. Ultimately, ran out of things to troubleshoot without being in the shop. So he wants me to bring it in for a full day so he can work on it there and run parasitic draw testing (pulling fuses, checking grounds, etc. etc..) Got my 4th battery in though! Will let everyone know if they are able to detect the source of the draw once I get it into shop.

@FordTechOne : truck finally in shop. Heard back today that they seemed to have isolated the power draw to the guage cluster. That was kind of surprising. So now they want to see which specific area within the gauge cluster may be causing the issue. Said it could be as simple as a software update but not sure yet. Anyway, progress I suppose. Will post final remedy once resolved

Update: dealer has passed all info to Ford Engineering, who in turn told service to perform a TSB and some other things. Didnt fix issue. New instrument panel ordered. Takes 1 week to arrive, truck cannot move while waiting. FML. LOL

Instrument cluster actually arrived today. Replaced it, but still seeing the draw. Ford is now sending out a corporate engineer rep with different tools to help troubleshoot. This is so much fun. FML , lol

Ok, truck finally home and hopefully no more parasitic draw. 5 days later. Must say, very pleased with the dealer by way of communication and dedication to resolve. They said it was not easy

@FordTechOne Maybe when you get a chance you can give me the 1-2 sentence version of these tech notes in laymen terms :) Sounds like ABS module ultimately the culprit?

"
Customer concern verified. Performed parasitic draw test and found the draw to be 1.6A/ Found the IPC backlight to be staying on. Disconnected fuse 13 (7.5a) which powers IPC and SCCM. Draw drops to 0 - 0.2a. Disconnected SCCM, draw is still 1.6a with fuse back in. Disconnected GSM and IPC backlight is still on and draw still present. Checked for IPC SW update, no update available. Disconnected IPC and draw drops to 0.0a. Reconnected IPC and draw goes back to 1.6a. Awaiting hotline response. Hotline requests states to perfrom an SSM and a TSB for other DTC's performed those bulletins and retest. Draw still present and backlighting is staying on. Hotline says to replace the IPC and readdress concern. Removed and replaced IPC. Performed IPC PMI. Cleared DTCs no DTCS reset. Performed draw test. Draw still present at 1.6a. Using fdrs, perf live network test and found many modules on all networks staying awake. does not seem like reliable test data. perf all module self tests and cleared all codes. retest all modules and found code u0253 stored in the abs module. ran oasis for ssm and tsb's. ssm51329 lists concern for abs code u0253. perf abs ssm's and tsb's. ssm51329 lists concern for abs code u0253. perform abs module programming. perf draw test and verified draw passes - now at .012 amps. perform bcm datalogger test to check battery state of charge - 60%. started and ran truck to get battery charge to 75%. repeated draw test 2 more times and confirmed draw drops to .012 amps - ok.

reassembled interior that was removed for IPC. rechecked one more time. draw drops to .01amp after 5 minutes of truck sitting. parasitic draw/power loss is gone. customer concern resolved"
