Folks,

I like to know as much about my truck as possible.

I have not found the differences between a stock F150 and a Raptor.

The only detail is a 'stronger' frame.

Can anyone 'fill in the blanks' on how our Raptor Gen 2 frames are different?

Thanks, JohnnyB

Good topic, I’m interested as well. Shock towers are definitely taller and the rear shock mounts are beefier.

I tried to get more details on the frame differences as well when I first got my Raptor. Best I could come up with is, it's largely the same frame with a couple key areas getting additional reinforcement.

Check out the 2nd part of the savage geese video on YouTube, they put the truck on a lift and talk about it

I would pass on savage geese. His tow rating info was way off so the rest of what he says is suspect.

TFL was at the press launch in 2016 and they had an exposed chassis. This video gets pretty detailed into what has been upgraded. Exposed chassis part starts at 3:50

IIRC at launch of the current F150 they said it was like 700 pounds lighter than the previous gen. Then at the launch of the new Raptor they said it was like 500 or so pounds lighter than the gen 1. I believe there was some mention of the heavier Raptor frame being like 100-150 pounds heavier than a stock F150 frame. This is all based on memory but I believe there was some info in this ballpark out at the time.

The spring hangers are beefed up...and I think (not 100% sure) the frame section where the rear bump stop is located is also beefed up....
